I'm looking at some japanese topwaters right now, and wanted some feedback first.

Basically I'm wanting to know what Japanese poppers, walking baits, and "other" topwaters are your favorites.

I like the smaller Yellow Magic, but I might try a Jackall sk-pop grande because I like the details on them. I already have a pop x and pop max so you don't need to sell me on those. As far as walking baits go, I haven't used them much so I've never caught a fish on one. Has anyone used a Jackall Bowfin or Bonnie? For "other" I'm referring to the Pompadour, Boil Trigger, Mudsucker, etc...

Not impressed with the Boil Trigger. Pomp and Pomp Jr. get a lot of love.

For my $15.99, the Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 is the best walking bait.

megabass giant dog x is a fantastic walking bait.  VERY easy to get it to walk.

haven't caught one on the pompadour yet, but it has some wild action for sure!

I like the entire lucky craft top water line, but the gunfish, sammy, and Kelly j are my favorites

Evergreen SB 105 is the best topwater bait of all time in my opinion. It walks and pops and its not too big and not too small with 3 trebles that are sticky sharp. I like the duo popper 64 and megabass pop x for small poppers. For just walking I like sammys and the duo pencil 85 and 110.

The Jackall Mudsucker is an awesome topwater bait.  Walks great good stock hooks and durable paint

Duo Realis Pencil 110 a 3/4oz bit with a great walk the dog action & a loud knocker. I have caught bass up to 8.5lbs on it.

DUO makes some great topwater lures, I like the 6th Sense Walking bait for only $10, I think that is Japanese, I am not a believer in the Rico. But, if you are, then confidence matters most. Duo makes a popper that is 64mm and really good, and all the one knocker walking baits from Jackall, Duo, Damiki, River2sea Rover, LC, are all good. Evergreen and others are also good.

IMA skimmer and Grande are great for clear water. If fishing stained water spend $3 for the Rebel T-10 which is a loud one knocker that can hang with any of them, just upgrade the hooks. Ima lures are pretty, but The Rebel has lead rattles that seem to produce and nobody ever seems to throw them, that matters in my mind.

So many good lures and not enough time, I would pick the colors and sizes you feel most confident in. Every lure mentioned above in the right hands will produce results. Then again, So will a Zara Spook one Knocker or standard. Just not as pretty. But plenty of top guys throw a spook over high dollar lures. Just preference. Duo makes some awesome looking lures that produce and are actually priced well for what you get, they are all Quality and I like that 64mm Popper they make.

Another vote for the Evergreen Showerblows 105. It cuts so hard that it almost sits in place and spits a good amount of water with very little effort. Cast very well, is super easy to work, and flat out catches them.

The Duo Popper 64 is a nice little bait, as is the R2S Bubble walker 80. It's a lot like the Megabass Popmax, but for less than half price.

I think the only japanese topwater I have is megabass pop max I grabbed from DSG earler this summer on a 2 for 30 deal...I'm generally skeptical that most hardbaits over $10 have much advantage over other things i can get for 10 or less, but these are the bomb.  Only problem is I'm afraid of throwing them where there are a lot of pike, which unfortunately is most of the places I fish...

Ah, now that's exactly what I needed to hear!

Do yourself a favor and get the Ima Skimmer. Comes stock with owner hooks, and has a unique shape and walking action. It's been my go to topwater all year. Also, it's not as overpriced as a lot of Jdm stuff.

I've got both sizes and prefer the larger. These have the best action of any top water I've seen. It'll spit and walk incredibly well. The SB doesn't take much work to walk in place.
