Shak Muscles Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Is it considered trespassing to fish in a quarry? There's a quarry a few miles from me and its got 2 nice looking ponds in it. I know people fish quarry's but I'm not sure if we are actually allowed to. I see construction trucks down there so I think people are still working on in the quarry. I also have no clue how to get down there, but I've heard that these quarries hold some big bass! Are we allowed to fish down there and would those construction guys mind? And also how do you even get down there? Quote
Turtle135 Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Virtually all of the quarry ponds around me are well posted with no trespassing signs. Generally quarries are on private property and if you are seeing active construction trucks that land is usually owned or leased by the company doing the work there. If you see no trespassing signs on the perimeter you have your answer. As far as access goes, generally there will be a road built leading down into the quarry. Some places that is the only way to get to the water's edge as the rest of the banks are vertical rock. I have been allowed to fish a few. On some the fishing is great and on some the fishing is poor. A lot of factors go into the makeup of the fish population on a particular body of water. 1 Quote

These were older quarries. They were not working them anymore (and had not been worked in years and years). They are now on private property. We asked and got permission from the home/land owner to fish there. Quote
