which would be better for inshore fishing? I have a medium power already but I would be will I got to buy another.

I don't fish inshore so the only advice I can give you is to pick a rod with the lure range encompassing the weights you want to cast.  I use a 7" ML Redbone rated 3/8-3/4 oz. for bass.  So far I am liking it.  SirSnookalot recommended the brand.  He only uses spinning, but mine is a casting rod.  He fishes 365 days a year...in both fresh and saltwater....but I haven't seen him on here lately.

What kind of inshore fishing? Redfish, trout, sheepshead, stripers, tarpon, jacks, etc.? On the flats, in bays, off the beach, fishing mangroves and docks?

Going for trout and sheepshead you could easily get away with bass gear anywhere. Redfish can be handled by bass gear as well on the flats. Open ocean or deep bay reds definitely require a step up in tackle, and tarpon will need something even stronger. Don't know a thing about stripers. Jacks will depend on where you're fishing, what you need for them basically matches redfish.

Personally, I use a 1500 size reel and a 7'0 medium moderate bass rod for the flats, 3500-4500 size reel and a much stronger rod for the beach and bays when targeting reds, jacks, and tarpon.

I use a 7 1/2' St. Croix SCII MM rod for most inshore fishing and never saw a need to go lighter.

Just what are you fishing for and where are you fishing (more specific - coves, shorelines, humps?) What species are you targeting? Water conditions - clear, stained, muddy? Need more input if you want a targeted out put.

For overall inshore fishing I use a medium heavy action rod.So far it has worked great for snook, tarpon, jacks, small/medium sharks and other inshore fish.

I use a 7' St. Crox avid inshore....m power fast tip

works real well, for the surf I go up to the same rod only MH

I use small light lures. Use a 3000 series reel and St. Croix 7' ml premier rod. Works great on snook, reds, trout, bass, and juvi tarpon up to 40 lbs.

St. Croix makes more expensive rods and I have several but prefer the action of the premier even though it is one of their less expensive rods.
