Nice_Bass Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 a previous post has me curious on what I need to do. I have always ran e10 gas in my boat and every fill up always use Stabil. I really don't have any issues other than my boat seems to run a bit rougher as well as a bit slower than it use to. Slower maybe due to I have a bit more weight now, but for sure runs a little more rough however still performs well. Anyhow, would I benefit from running a seafoam or like product through it to "clean it up"? Also, would I want to run the current tank all the way down to eliminate what stabil is in there now? I have had this boat for about 6 years now so figured possibly I should do something however not sure if it is just hype behind some of the other products. Quote
Al Wolbach Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 You can add the Seafoam now. It will mix with Stabil without any problems. I generally run a mixture of both all the time. Results vary from boat to boat however many love Seafoam, myself included. 1 Quote
Nice_Bass Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 interesting... and thank you Al. Always worried about mixing the two together. I am taking it on a trip out of state here in a couple weeks so I may run it when I get back just so I don't worry about it out of town. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted August 1, 2016 Super User Posted August 1, 2016 I like Seafoam and use it once a year or if I feel I need to due to rough idling or hard starting. I never fill up the fuel tank without Startron fuel additive. It 's purpose is to keep ethanol and water from separating. I do not use Stabil but have always thought it was more for long term fuel storage. My boat is 6 years old and gets treated to 1 week of real fuel while on vacation ( we go to Tennessee where non ethanol fuel is available) a year, otherwise it is forced to live with E10. It so loves vacation week. Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted August 1, 2016 Super User Posted August 1, 2016 I use seafoam and startron in every single fill up. I add stabil when my boat has to sit for longer than 2 weeks when in use or when it's stored in the winter. I never had a fuel issue on my 2 stroke and it ran like a top. Quote
BaitMonkey1984 Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Star tron and seafoam in every fill up. I run the Yamalube once per year and about every other fill up I add some marvel mystery oil too. Probably put some fuel system cleaner in there 3 times a year too. Yea, I put a lot other than gas in my tank. Drives my Dad crazy but my motor has been a champ (except this year) for the past 7 or so years. Quote
