Hey, I'm looking for a new 7 foot M/H rod for jigs. My budget is 150$ or less do you guys have any suggestions?

Thanks

I have three suggestions and I fish some of each brand.  First Dobyns Fury rods run $110 to $120 and are great rods. Now up scale a little in your budget but well worth it is the Dobyns Sierra. The Sierra rods ( like the Fury's ) are light feel great and balance well. As you go up in the lines from Dobyns the components get a little nicer and the blanks seem to get a little lighter. I would look at several rods depending on you needs. If I was throwing light jigs all the way to 3/4 ounce jigs in shallow water out to say 20 feet of water I would be choosing between a 703 or a 734 Fury. In the Sierra line look at the 683, 684, 703,704, 733 and 734. If I was going to throw heavy football style jigs deep or flip and pitch then a 735 in either series would service me well. Sierra rods cost $160 -180 so they are just above your budget but well worth the pric.

Next look at the Powell Max3d look at the 723 or 734 if you want a little beefier stick. My favorite is not on their website . You would have to call out and talk to them. It is being reintroduced. I fish an earlier version but I love their 683Max. That stick is my all around swiss army knife.Go read Tackletour article here.http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpowell683cxfast.html   A Powell Max3D will cost $159.

Lastly go to Irod. Look at the Genesis II rods. My choice would be either a IRG704C or an IRG 744c both  are great sticks. I fish a IRG703cc for traps and cranks and love it. They run $149.

There is not a bad choice in those. First decide if you are looking for a lighter jig rod like the MH 2/4 to 3/4 or the heavier rods like the 1/4 to 1 1/4 rods. Then the choices will be lessened but there is not a bad rod in those i offered.

Very nice suggestions so far.  I've read good things about all the rods mention, but only have experience with the older Tatula rods.  I really like mine a lot.  Enough so that I just bought a used 7'4" rod.  An Okuma Helios in MF is suppose to be here next week so I can't give a hand's on opinion, but TT gave that rod a "Great" rating...if I remember correctly.  Powells often get mentioned as giving you a lot for your money.  I only have an Endurance, but have to agree with that assessment.

Right now Fenwick is selling the Aetos 7' MHF, 7'1" MH-XF and 7'2" MH-XF for $125.97.  This is a $54 savings on some very nice rods.  Light.  Nice looking.  Ask Dan (smalljaw67) his opinion of these rods.

I would recommend the Fenwick Aetos as well, especially being on sale right now. I have the mh/f HMG right now for jigs and it is very sensitive, right now im deciding if I want to upgrade to the Aetos while its on sale though.......

I'm a big fan of the max 3d in the 723 as well..If your throwing 1/2 oz up I like the 714..

American Legacy just recently started selling Powell, They are great to deal with.

Probably two of the best jigs rods I've ever felt

For lighter jigs weight & sparse cover

iRod Genesis II IRG744C

Length: 7' 4", weights: 1/4-3/4 oz, power: medium heavy, action: fast

For heavier jig weights & thicker cover

iRod Genesis II IRG704C

Length: 7', weights: 1/4-1 1/4 oz, power: heavy, action: fast

I have no idea what the Best one means anymore. The only thing I'm sure of is what works best for me. I've bought and sold rods to find out what I like best.

lews HM85, Abu IKE and Villian, Team Diawa, which is a sleeper.

I wont mention the rods I've bought and sold. I don't have time.
