Super User the reel ess Posted July 29, 2016 Super User Posted July 29, 2016 Freshwater or salt? And good locations I can put the kayak in? I'll be staying at Pawleys, but I can drive wherever I need to. Thanks. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted July 29, 2016 Super User Posted July 29, 2016 I've never been but looking at the map I sure see a lot of saltwater creeks. My vote is saltwater for the reds and trout 1 Quote
heyitskirby Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Reds can be found in the creek that splits Pawley's from the mainland, as well as just about anything from bluefish to flounder and croaker. Fishing from the bridge can be okay, but there are a ton of pinfish that will tear your bait up if you use cut bait. I've never gotten out in a kayak, but the current rips through there at times so I would be careful. A lot of houses have their own docks on the creek too, but keep in mind how far off you are from the main creek if in the middle part of the island. Other places to consider are Murrell's Inlet to the north and Cape Romaine to the south. If you try a charter I would stay away from anything "deep sea" and either do inshore for reds or near shore for flounder. 2 Quote
Super User the reel ess Posted July 31, 2016 Author Super User Posted July 31, 2016 Thanks guys. I have fished the creeks behind the island before and caught a couple flounder. I guess I'm looking for some more action. But I'll give the creek another try. Saltwater is not my specialty. I'll read up a little before I go. Quote

I was hoping for better luck, but after speaking to the locals, it looks like I had better luck that day. Quote
Tim Gamble Posted November 14, 2016 Posted November 14, 2016 Very good fishing there "when " it's on in Pawleys creek. Let me know if you come back. I will try to direct you to some fresh water spots. There is some good bass fishing on Waccamaw in that area. You just got to get out there Quote
