Carolina skiff for bass fishing?

Anyone ever fished out of a Carolina skiff in freshwater? I know it's pretty common here in South Florida, but wanted to hear some opinions on it. I'd be looking at a J14 or a J16. I've only fished out of a J12 offshore before. My main concern is the fishability of the front decks. They have an angle to them that looks like it may be difficult to stand on for a long period of time. I'd be selling my tracker 1542 to get one so I can expand my fishing to inshore and some reef fishing as well.

I almost bought a skiff instead of my bass boat, and Carolina Skiff was my main choice. Great boats, and they draft shallower than most bass boats. I ultimately decided on the bass boat because I am fat and the bass boat gave me a little more room. It also had better seating for my wife and kids...

While not a skiff I have a center console that is similar to the layout of the skiff your referencing. I see no reason why it wouldn't be able to fish from a skiff for bass or fresh water species. A buddy of mine has one and he fishs both salt and fresh water with it and loves it. Its all in what your looking for. I was focused on a bass boat then came across my boat for sale. Now I am glad I went with it because I can go salt or fresh without any issues. Just follow proper maintenance and shes good to go everytime.

So it looks like I'm gonna buy a J16 hull and trailer that's decked out and repower or I found a J14 with a 2015 Yamaha 25 that I'd like to add a rear deck and live well as well as a larger casting deck. Decisions decisions....

When getting into a boat for freshwater I was in a similar position, wanted something I could put in salt every once in a while and fish the inlets, jetties and hit a new-shore reef on glassy days. While not a fiberglass skiff, I opted for a 16' high side jon boat with stick steer up front, front and rear deck, livewell in the center and drafts extremely shallow (though not as shallow as some skiffs).

I thought about going this route, but I like Carolina skiffs they just feel safer to me as far as small boats go in the ocean and would like to avoid aluminum in the salt as much as I could. Bass fishing is my primary fishing but it can't ever hurt to expand my horizons.
