Super User buzzed bait Posted July 28, 2016 Super User Posted July 28, 2016 mine has done the same thing, but i stored mine in my garage so i just chalked it up to the hot/cold Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted July 28, 2016 Super User Posted July 28, 2016 If you got the plastic bottle, it will gel up without even being opened. If you have the glass bottle, it will gel up with air exposure. Store in a cool dark place. Quote
bassin is addicting Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 i have the glass bottle...stored in my house...in my fishing room..cool and dry...only used it maybe 6-8 times... ugh!! gotta say it does work, just would like to have been able to use it more.. Quote
cadman Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 If it is the glass bottle, put a couple of drops of MEK in there. Do not breathe the vapors. I have had 2 small bottles, one opened and one not opened for two years. No problem. You must keep the bottles closed all the time. Do not leave open. Apply as quickly as possible and close jar. bassin is addicting Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 so.. i called them direct and spoke to Will. he also mentioned the MEK and that the formula has MEK in it. after talking to him for a little bit, he asked for my address and said he would send me a small bottle with some MEK in it. if i get it...that would be great customer service. i'll post back here if i do. Just be very careful the vapors are very bad for your lungs. Do not put the bottle to your nose to see how it smells. Put in a couple of drops and mix it in quickly and it should be more liquid. If not put in a couple more drops. You don't want it like water. I am really surprised that he will send MEK through the mail. That is a no-no. However it should help with your issue. You can also by MEK I believe in quart cans at Home Depot, Lowes, Menards or your local hardware store. Quote

Super User WRB Posted July 30, 2016 Super User Posted July 30, 2016 MEK was used for dry cleaning years ago, that is where "mad as a hater" came from. Today very few states sell MEK over the counter, very hazardous chemical. Mend-It is a super glue jell and when exposed to air it starts to set, a year shelf life is a long time after opening. Buy the smallest sizes. Tom 1 Quote
Torn Thumb Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 The plastic shop I used to work at used MEK on a daily basis to adhere two halves of spools together. You were provided with cheap particle masks if the smell bothered you. That stuff can be brutal on the lungs and skin. We had a small machine that recycled it and made it usable again. I never used it. Definitely a chemical to be careful with. 1 Quote
bassin is addicting Posted July 31, 2016 Author Posted July 31, 2016 Thanks for the heads up on how it should be handled. I appreciate it. Quote
Torn Thumb Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Not a problem. The proper way to handle it according to the msds was to use a full face shield, rubber apron, and thick arm length gloves. Not many people do that but if you get it in the webbing of your fingers you'll know it. It won't melt your skin or anything but it burns pretty good. I would just be careful if I were you. Quote

Crazy stuff! This is the correct chemical name for it if you want to buy a quart. Thanks for posting I couldn't think of the name of it at the time. Quote
Torn Thumb Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 It should be available at all local hardware stores but again be careful! Quote
