SCWatrboyo1 Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 So my 2 1/2 year old has been river fishing a lot with me this summer. Started off him just holding rod and waving it around to reeling in a few fish after I've caught some. To reeling in a few fish on hook set. Now I'm casting for him and he's actually reeLing in. Today had wacky senko on his rod and he hooked 4lb+ smalley was awesome. Daddy come to help and then fish got off. Anyways I was using matzuo octopus 2/0 hooks. What would be a good hook and size for him to not have to set hook. 20160724_122307_2.mp4 20160724_122307.mp4 Quote
SCWatrboyo1 Posted July 27, 2016 Author Posted July 27, 2016 Yeah I figured circle was pretty much of lying way to go but you never know what else someone has rigged up. But would love to know good brand circle and size for 4 &5" senko Quote
papajoe222 Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 I use a #1 Gammy circle hook on a wacky rig with an 'O' ring. I use that hook for all my instructional outings whether with children, or adults, wacky rig, drop shot, or split shot Unhooking a gut hooked fish can be traumatic to a child to the point that they focus more on that than the enjoyment of catching. SCWatrboyo1 Posted July 28, 2016 Author Posted July 28, 2016 I use shrink tubing on my wacky rigs. You think I should do 1/0 using the shrink tubing Quote
SCWatrboyo1 Posted July 30, 2016 Author Posted July 30, 2016 Tried 3/0 gammy circle today but son didn't have any luck. I feel like a redream hook in my river makes a huge difference. Anyone else notice hook color Quote
