Wondering if anyone has owned and/or used both a ci4 hg Chronarch and core 100 mg. looking at a clean core on eBay and wondering if it's a good or better reel than the Chronarch. Also you if you could compare both to a curado 200hg that would be great since I have one and love it. Thanks for all feedback

The core is without a doubt hands down ten thousand times the better reel. There was just recently a thread about this, same general consensus

I would say get the Core while you can as they have been discontinued and as years pass it will become more difficult to find them. They MG7 is the preferred 100 series Core while the 6:2.1 is usually a 2nd choice. The Break systems are different between the Core and CI4. The Core has a better frame quality frame IMO. The only drawback is the Core will have a very slightly larger frame (Chronarch D if you are familiar with this reel) for comparison.

I have slowly been adding more Shimano VBS reels to my arsenal as of late. I just think they were made from better materials, were easy to maintain, don't require periodic oiling to keep them quiet, and were made in Japan so the quality is there.

I've got both.  My CI4 is JDM and tuned by DVT.  It's a toss up between it and my Core 100 (also tuned by DVT).  I choose one or the other based on what gear ration I want to use....

They're both great reels.  If memory serves me right I got my Cores (50 & 100) on sale from Gander Mountain towards the end of fishing season.

I like the Core 100 and I have both of the same models.  Not that the Chronarch sucks though.  It is just better.
