Whats everone's take on the 06 Nitro's? Are they good boats, I have heard good and bad things...but mostly good, I get the feeling that they get a bad wrap from some people, and that they have got alot better in the last few years. I nkow there prob. not as good as ranger or skeeter, but rangers are nice indeed, but what is not nice..is the price :). Anyways I am new to this forum, and thanks for the imput.

God Bless

I have a 2005 Ranger 185 VS with a Merc 150 XR-6 and I bet you would be surprised what you can get that boat for !! My only suggestion to you is to seriously consider the following before spend that kind of money.

1. Reliability

2. Warranty

3. Re-Sale ( you will want a larger boat someday )

4. Performance ( I suggest test driving as many boats as possible )

Hope this helps !

Ditto Chico...I recently shopped for an 06' Nitro NX750. I wanted to get a rig that would fit into my garage along with my truck and wifey's car, so a 17'6" boat was the ticket for me. The dealer I went to sold both Nitro's and Ranger's. I was shown a beautiful Nitro nx750 with a 115merc. After asking several pertinent questions and getting the info I wanted, I was sure the Nitro was the boat for me. Then, as if devine intervention, I asked, comically, about a Ranger in the same size, never dreaming id be able to afford one. After hearing that a Ranger, equipped EXACTLY the same way was only about 3 grand more, my ultimate decision was made easy. I bought a 2006 Ranger 175DVS instead. Now, dont get me wrong, the Nitro are a good rig as well, however the "pro's and con's compared to a Ranger were overwhelming to me. If you want a liter boat (unfortunately lots of plastic used to keep weight/cost down), by all means get the Nitro. I would have been elated to own one, however "elated" doesnt begin to explain what Im feeling now with my Ranger. Goodluck with your choice, just take your time and find out all there is to know about "ALL" boats in your price range before pulling the trigger on one. BTW A pic of my new baby is on bassboating page (lets see your boats pg#4)....Happy Holiday's to everyone.

There are probably as many good reports on Nitro as there are bad.  I can only tell you from my own observations that you get what you pay for.  If you really look at a Nitro and start nit picking it it just doesn't stack up to other brands in the fit and finish department.  It is cheaper than other brands but that price difference has fallen over the past few years.  Try looking at entry level boats from other manufacturers like Ranger, Stratos, Triton, Champion, Charger, Skeeter before committing. You might be surprised what you can get a name brand boat for.  :)

i have a nitro 640...2 yrs old now and am very happy with it..granted i think the quality is below the rangers, skeeters etc ....like anything else you get what you pay for ...i just fish weekends on small lakes..no tournaments and it is perfect for me....only complaint is i'm not too crazy about the 60 hp mercury on it...my other boat had an evinrude and i liked it better...
