Why you should always keep your schematic

I was going through all my reels and I started cleaning the ones I haven't used in a while. This reel is a Bass Pro Shops Prolite Special PLX10HA. It was a nice reel but I upgraded to something better. While I was cleaning it I got the drag system mixed up.  I don't have the schematic. Anyone know what order the parts would be in, or could possibly help me put the reel back together ?

Ii have been a professional mechanic for over 35 years. I have had a camera in my tool box since I first started. I know this is  not much help now but for the future take some snap shots as you tear down. They are a lot of help in the long run.

Anti reverse ratchet, small drag washer, main gear, drag washer and drag pressure plate. That is the order to place on to the handle shaft. Google the reels schematic.

While you are in there toss that drag washer and get some carbontex lol

Fish is correct. That's the order those parts go into every reel I've ever seen. Ratchet on bottom engages dog. Small drag washer serves as a spacer to clear top of dog. Main gear engages pinion. Large drag washer and pressure plate turn the main gear.

Never open a reel without a schematic. Also keep in mind that they are primarily a parts list and don't necessarily show part orientation or assembly order. The camera is a good tip.

Another good tip is to set the parts out in order, by number, and label them. That's how I got to be decent at cleaning reels.

I put it back together, greased, and oiled it. It's working excellent. Thank you.

It's stuff like this that makes Bass Resource invaluable.

I heard once a good idea when cleaning reels....

Get an old egg carton, number the individual pockets and in order you take the reel apart (maybe just the intricate pieces) place them in the egg pockets. That way they stay organized. Springs don't go flying away, and it's all in order.

I used that system and it works!

CABED is the order.

The egg carton is a good idea.  I use a muffin pan because it's heavier, washes easily.

Bake at 350 until golden brown!
