Right, 4+ ounces over what would be considered the "typical" bass spinning reel (the 2500 size) Exceler. 4 oz by itself isn't much but it'll wear on you as you're making dozens, if not hundreds of casts in a day. I never go fishing for more than 3-4 hours at a time and usually change-up setups periodically during that time so i wouldn't ever be making hundreds of casts per day with this reel. Quote
Brett's_daddy Posted August 1, 2016 Author Posted August 1, 2016 Leaning towards keeping this reel and spooling on 15lb mono or maybe 50 - 65lb braid. It's a $90 reel that was on sale for $50 and I got an extra $10 off so I only paid $40 for it. Quote
d-camarena Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I dont know about that reel, but i use 4000 size shimano fk on my spinning set ups and i love it. But i use 30lb braid. Dont listen to the bad comments, its works just fine. I dont mind the extra weight, ive been fishing 4000 reels for years. Dont put heavy mono on it though Just spool some 30lb maxcuatro and go get em Quote
