Looking to purchase my first baitcasting reel, after trying one out from a friend.  I have narrowed it down to the speed spool for 99.99 and the tournament mb for 139.99. I only have noticed slight difference. For instance, tournament mg has 14 pounds of drag vs the speed spool 10. The other difference is that the speed spool holds more line. I was wondering if anyone had these reels and could give me some feedback. Open to other suggestions also.   Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I only fish Lew's at the moment. I've had a few of their reels up and down the model range. I got an MB right before the season started and I really like mine. Obviously, the dual braking system is a huge plus but overall it's been great for me. Depending on what ratio you are looking for if you scan through eBay the MB can be had for around $108 with Free Shipping.

Sportsman Outfitters on eBay is selling them pretty cheap, new.

I agree with thebillsman. I have all Lews but 1 BPQ and really like them. I know it sounds insignificant but one feature I really like on the Tournament is the audible clicking on the spool tension knob. That and the other features like the drag all make me desire it more over the standard speed spool. That being said with some shopping as stated with eBay etc you can basically eliminate the price difference. Either reel make great bass fishing that will last just shop a little and you can get the better reel.

My reels are all Lews From Tourney Pro's to Magnesium's. I recently bought an MB for my third Frog/Toad rod. It's a fantastic reel. Very Smooth, cast great, super drag and the brakes are just like my TP. Probably the best buy on the market to date.

Personally I'd go for the MB with dual braking.  Got mine for $109 from ebay.  Although the majority of my reels have Magnetic braking, none of my Lew's reels do....so I can't compare casting differences between the two reels you are looking at.

go to this and get the tournament mb. I have three of them and love them. If your putting it on a flipping stick the 8.3:1 is nice.

I never have liked it when a site says to "see price at checkout".  I know you don't have to follow through, but I don't understand the reason for making me add an item to my cart before I can find out the price.

Here is the same one I have except it is RH and $2 less than I paid.....and price is up front.

For what it's worth, I recently purchased my first Lew's setup and I'm very impressed. I got a Lew's Mach 1 baitcaster combo for $110, an absolute steal! I definitely plan on buying more Lew's in the future.

I have 2 of the MBs and 2 of the speed spools. DEFINITELY GET THE MB OVER THE SPEED SPOOL.
