Hogsticker Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Going to take the plunge and start fishing the ned in deeper water while it's pretty hot, and continue using it as needed into the fall. I will be placing an order for some Gopher mushroom heads in the 3/32 variety for current conditions. What size hook do I want for the Z man TRDs? I'm thinking 1/0. What are you guys using? Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 #2 or #1. The small hook still sticks fish well and doesn't snag as much because of the smaller hook gap. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted July 26, 2016 Super User Posted July 26, 2016 1/0 is WAY too big !! ... You want a #2 hook on the Gopher heads (as the largest) with TRD's and I even do well on a #4 hook on the Gopher heads with the TRD's . Quote
frogflogger Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 4 - 6 - you can mash down the barbs and still land fish - big fish Quote
Super User fishwizzard Posted July 26, 2016 Super User Posted July 26, 2016 I refused to believe that the #4-6 hooks would hold a larger fish until I tried them. Now the only reason I go larger is to 1: Reduce bycatch of tiny panfish that swarm the lure and 2: Need to make the rig weedless. Quote
