AllTerrainAngler Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Does anyone have any experience with these kayaks? I have a friend offering me his 2016 model for $600 and I haven't heard much from feelfree kayaks. 1 Quote

AllTerrainAngler Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 I just sold my ATAK and got a fs128t but for the price i'm probably going to pick the lure up also/ Quote
venom Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I was planning on buying one but after paddling it I changed my mind. It was a barge to paddle and it tracked poorly in my opinion. If I had the money and was able to get a deal like that and had the room, I might consider it as a second kayak. It was very stable and the seat was great. Seemed well made and solid. For something to stand up and fish or something for use with a little current where you're not constantly paddling I think it is a great kayak. Not trying to knock it, just my experience. That's a heck of a price so I'm sure if it wasn't for you you could easily recoup your money. 3 Quote

Not sure if that'll make a huge difference but we will see. 2 Quote
venom Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I'm sure that would help.....I think it was pretty expensive if I remember correct, think they told me it was another $250 or so. Not sure if there are other options besides theirs that would fit?? Quote

Super User Master Bait'r Posted July 26, 2016 Super User Posted July 26, 2016 For $600 I'd buy it in a heartbeat Full retail probably not again. It is comfy as heck, lots of sexy bits and a wheel, but I must say the hull pirouettes like a flippin ballerina. When they released the paddle/motor console thing I was like "of course!" because why else design a hull that pivots on center? If you get it buy a hand paddle for sure, otherwise you're going to set the boat on fire lol 3 Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted July 26, 2016 Super User Posted July 26, 2016 yeah at $600 i'd buy it myself and see how you like it. i'd say you'd have zero problems getting your money back if you decide it's not for you. Quote
AllTerrainAngler Posted July 26, 2016 Author Posted July 26, 2016 Picking it up Wednesday. If I don't like it I already have a coworker interested. Haha 2 Quote
The Young Gun Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 600 is a steal! I actually work at a Feel Free Dealer, I've paddled all the feel free kayaks and love them! The Lure is a heck of a kayak for the money and the 16' model has the detachable sonar pod! This is a big deal because feel free is coming out with their own pedal/motor drive next year that will drop right into this slot. As a avid kayak fisherman myself, I loved the feel free, but its speed and tracking wasn't my favorite. The wheel in the keel and the seat, are the best parts about this kayak! Let me know if you have any other questions, just DM me. I have many hours behind feel free kayaks. Quote
Dogmatic Posted July 27, 2016 Posted July 27, 2016 $600?! No question, that's a good deal. But let me get this right, you sold an ATAK, and picked up an Ascend 128t, really?! 1 Quote
Super User Montanaro Posted July 27, 2016 Super User Posted July 27, 2016 I have a lure 11.5 At 600 you are stealing it. Yeah its a bit of a pig to paddle sometimes and doesnt track the best and with a good breeze you will struggle. But its very comfortable and has great storage and ive no problem standing and fishing in it all day to the amazement of anyone nearby. 1 Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted July 27, 2016 Super User Posted July 27, 2016 I have a 11.5 And a 128T. Buy the Lure. Too bad you're in Georgia or else I'd buy it. 1 Quote

I love my ATAK and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon. 1 Quote
boostr Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 It's a barge, but I fish standing up so stability was important, and this was a no brainer for me. At 600 bucks I would buy it again. Ill eventually will add a trolling motor to mine anyway so I'm not worried about its so called "bad tracking". 1 Quote

No doubt, the Ascend is an excellent value for the money, and completely under-rated (and crapped on by a lot of snobs), but a replacement for an ATAK, probably top 3 or 4 fishing yaks ever designed? You have to admit, to most, it seems like a step backwards. 1 Quote

What i got for my ATAK was well over enough tto purchase both and deck them out to an extent... I had the ATAK fully decked out. combined i only spent about 1k combined on the 128t and the lure. 1 Quote
