Today was not my day

I bought my wife a new car a couple of months ago. We're taking a trip, starting the end of this week, with our D-I-L and grandkids. Wife wanted an oil change before going. So she took my car today and I took hers in for service.  She had to  go  about  90 miles  south to do  something  in  a  different  Walmart.

Left the dealership after the oil change and the AC quit. Turns out the compressor need to be replaced. No problem, under warranty, they just need to order one. They gave me a new jeep to drive while ours is being repaired.

Made it home about 11am. Wife calls at noon to tell me my car will not start. Had to drive 90 miles south, call up insurance company for roadside assistance. Jump starting did not work. My car got towed to the nearest Jeep dealer.  Got there right before closing  time. They're  going  to try to work it in tomorrow, to al least see  what's  wrong.

Hers is a 2015 Cherokee, mine is a 2010 Commander. What's the odds on both of them going down less than three hours apart? Right before a family trip requiring both vehicles?

I want to go beat up a nun.

Frustrating for sure.  Everybody's alive and well though, and there's a lot to be said for that.  When it rains it pours though, that's for sure.

That is extremely odd but at least it is under warranty and it didn't happen on your trip.  I have had car troubles 550 miles from home before and that isn't a fun thing.

That's terrible and I can certainly empathize. My wife got a '15 Tahoe as soon as they came out and it was nothing but problems from the get go with repair after repair after repair. They even had to replace all of the fuel injectors at 12,000 and then on a trip to San Diego (8 hours away) the check engine light came on and they had to clean them again and replace a couple other things with about 35,900 miles on it. We had to take it to the dealer 14 times over 2 years and they wouldn't extend the warranty for us or anything for our troubles, so we walked away from it and picked up what we assume will be an ultra reliable 4Runner. We know quite a few people that swear by their Tahoes, but ours was definitely a lemon.

My wife use to work for a Dodge  Chrysler and Jeep dealership.

She said their quality  was terrible.  

Brand new vehicles  with recalls  that couldn't  be fixed.

New vehicles that wouldn't  start soon after being  purchased.

The list went on and on. Just very poor quality  and workmanship

I work in the auto repair industry so thank goodness for the warranty. Some of the new jeeps have some issues but overall new car problems are all the norm. All vehicles have them some more than others . But having to drive a long way away after all ready being delayed with your other car problems will test your sanity . Take it with stride you have a loaner to drag race with.

The Commander is my second one. I had a 2007, traded it in on the 2015. This is the first problem I've had with either. The Cherokee is my wife second Jeep as well. We've had good luck with Jeeps. Up until now,  that is.

Mine will be ready to pick up tomorrow. $450 bill for a new starter. I just have get somebody to drive me 90 miles south to retrieve it.

I'm just very happy none of this occurred on the road, with grandkids on board.

Got my car back today. New starter, and new rear pinion seal. $630 later, I'm ready to hit the road.

when my wife got her Jeep Cherokee we left the dealership and headed straight out to a state park.The whole family + friends.We didn't even make it out of the county before it broke down.I mean STRAIGHT OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP.And then towed STRAIGHT BACK THERE.

Another time we went camping and got it stuck in a primitive camp back in the woods.And it had 4 wheel drive.Just too dang heavy and sorry tires.T he sand wasn't even that deep.Didnt take long to get out, then we stayed on the hard dirt after that.

Not real impressed with Jeep Cherokees.

  I am ready to scrap out my 99 jeep chrokee.  Tires are about wore out , seat moves because left front mounting rusted out ,floorboard rusted and floormat hanging under vehicle.  Plates expire in nov and it is gone?  Have replaced starter alternator and radiator only major parts in all these years.  Only has 343,000 miles   Will start driving my 98 grand for work lot better shape and only 290,000 miles.

It's better to drink the scotch than to punch a Nun!! You punch a Nun and That's  a 1000 hail Mary's you would have to say. I would opt. for the scotch too and I don't drink any more.lol
