offsidewing Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I walked into my local field and stream store today to buy some Sniper FC and noticed they had a sale going on, 25% off lowest marked price. Then I noticed the St Croix LTB rods were already marked down 25%. So that's almost 50% off St Croix LTB rods. Not sure if that's all Field and Stream stores, or just mine. That's less than $160 for a 68MXF/610MLXF spinning rod or less than $170 for a 71MF or MHF casting rod. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Not bad. How is that store? We have one coming to Albany in August. Quote
offsidewing Posted July 24, 2016 Author Posted July 24, 2016 for fishing, it has a better selection of baits than Cabelas or Gander Mountain. For rods and reels, it will regress towards the mean as evident by every rod over $250 currently being close to 50% off. The NRXs and Elite/Extreme rods went on sale over the winter. The E6X and Avid X are the most exotic rod either Cabelas or Gander currently stock locally. The Exception being fly rods and reels. Quote
Cgrinder Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to hit the Detroit store on Tuesday. Quote
offsidewing Posted July 25, 2016 Author Posted July 25, 2016 Picked up a 71MHF casting for me and 68MXF spinning for a buddy. Each cost $160 out the door. Quote
Jon G Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I was planning on going to the store tomorrow, if they have LTBs on sale I'm really going to be in trouble.... Quote
Cgrinder Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Yeah, one of those spinning rods for $160 sounds good. This BFS casting thing is just murder on the wallet. Quote

I think location plays a lot what the stores havem We have one locally that lacks in the fishing department but makes up on hunting. It is located in the middle of farmland with not much in the way of lakes nearby. The one in Erie caters to that fishery. There is a huge steelhead fly section and lots of walleye trolling lures. They carry a bunch of bass dropshot stuff too. Many high end reels and rod selection isn't too shabby. Quote
DubyaDee Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Thanks. I picked up a G Loomis IMX drop shot rod for $195 OTD. I was between this and the St Croix LTB, which would have been around $160. Some rods at the Detroit store are in their own section, not just the clearance. They had a few blue NRX's for $409+25% off! Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 25, 2016 Super User Posted July 25, 2016 I walked out the door on Saturday with a LTB71MF for $139. Quote
