Fish4bigfish Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 I recently purchased a Dobyns fury 735c. Great rod with a faster tip than the fury 734c. In my opinion way better for jigs. I was comparing my 734 fury to my 735 and noticed a few things. The cork on the 735 is obviously better quality. I don't know if that is just a rod by rod deal or what. After close inspection, I have noticed the guides are completely different! Both rods have 10 guides but they are very different. I will call Rich on Monday, was wondering if any one has heard anything. I bought my 734 as soon as the fury was released. The 735 I purchased a few days ago Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted July 23, 2016 Super User Posted July 23, 2016 It's not a Fuji KW, but it appears to be a tangle-free of some sorts. Quote

Well they switched guides Last time I lead down there Rich said the company was going fugi only due to inconsistent performance.?!? Here is the new guide Quote
Super User MickD Posted July 24, 2016 Super User Posted July 24, 2016 If I had that quality of cork on a rod I'd cover it up immediately with a Winn Wrap. I thought Dobyns were supposed to be sort of premium rods, but that cork is disgraceful. IMHO 1 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted July 24, 2016 Super User Posted July 24, 2016 The Fury is their entry level rod and it looks to me like the company has improved the quality of cork and installed a better quality set of components. That is what you should want any good company to do. I have had some of the newer rods in my hand and they look and feel great. Quote
d-camarena Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Lol my sellus has better cork, id get it replaced Quote
