Crestliner Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Bought a new 2005 Ficht 115 Evinrude this year and was boating at Lake Powell when a fuel injector bolt broke. Took it to the Bullfrog marina and they fixed it for 180 bucks (they told me they are certified to work on Evinrude but they would not take my Evinrude warranty but Evinrude would reimburse me). Guess what Evinrude will not reimburse me and I have a 7 year warranty >. Anyway Evinrude has built a bunch of Ficht motors with those bogus bolts so if you have one get it to your Evinrude dealer ASAP or you may have a horrible fishing trip (I was 20 miles down the lake when the bolt broke and it was very costly to get the boat back to Bullfrog). I wish I would of bought a Mercury Optimax. Quote
Super User flechero Posted November 9, 2005 Super User Posted November 9, 2005 Pardon me if this is a stupid question, but how does a fuel injector bolt, brake?? That seems like a real suspiscious happening. I'm sorry you got taken like that. If it were me, I would be raising much hell. Quote
Crestliner Posted November 10, 2005 Author Posted November 10, 2005 Evinrude started getting low grade bolts from a different company and did not realize it until they built a bunch of motors. There is a recall on a bunch of Ficht motors. When I did get the motor back to my boat dealer they replaced all 8 bolts (2 per injector). If the bolts don't have a 17-4 on the head of the bolt make sure you get them replaced . The old bolts had a small yellow dot on the head of the bolt . By looking at both bolts you could tell the yellow dot bolt were low grade bolts. You would think they would use the best for a 10 thousand dollar motor. Maybe they saved a couple of dollars by using the low grade bolts. :'( :'( :'( Quote
