I was giving a Jon boat about 9 foot long. I have no outboard for it, but I do have a 50LB Min Kota for it, would this be enough to push me around small ponds and swamsp? I am not looking to break any speed records, just enjoy a nice day in the swamp.

Your motor is plenty!

My first boat was a 12' Lowe jon boat, my first motor was 20 lb thrust and it worked fine... eventually I upgraded (several times due to theft of trolling motors  >:) ) I ended up with a 40lb thrust and it was awesome.  I think you'll be surprised at how good it goes.

Just be sure you have a GOOD battery and it is fully charged before each trip... paddling bites!!!!  (trust me!)

Just as flechero said, make SURE you have a charged battery. It is awful seeing your destination from afar, and knowing you have to paddle 2 hours to get there, trust me :)

Not sure if you are the person that emailed me but if you are, sorry I didn't reply, my inbox is messed up, won't let me reply.

I have a 55 on a heavy 12 ft jon and it pushes it fine.

I am upping it to the 82 but only because I'm just greedy  and want to be able to cover more water on each trip  :)

The only problem I see is it might be to fast to work along a bank on even the slowest speed without constantly reaching to turn it on and off. Might want to look for a foot operated switch for it. Sorry I don't have a link for one, but I bet someone on here has one.

Thanks for all the replies, I don't have a battery yet so I am going to go for the biggest one I can get, and maybe a cheap second one just in case. Now all I have to do is get it registerd, it has been in the back of this guys house for 7 years. No title or nothing, hopefully S.C. won't give me to hard of a time, I have a notarized bill of sale.
