smr913 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 So I am trading in a bunch of stuff I have accumulated throughout the years to focus on fishing out of my kayak. I fish a shakeyhead craw 80% of the time so looking to make a big investment into that set up. I'll have enough in trade in to upgrade to a NRX and am between a few models. I'll be fishing mostly a 3/16oz shakeyhead with a 3.5" ultravibe speedcraw. May expand to some tubes and flukes as well. Pairing with a Ci4 2500 with either 20/6 PP or 6-8# FC. Trying to get my hands on these before I pull the trigger, but interested what others have done. NRX 852S JWR 7' 1" B 1 6 - 12 1/8 - 3/8 Medium Ex-Fast NRX 823S SYR 6' 10" B 1 8 - 14 3/16 - 5/8 Med-Heavy Ex-Fast NRX 822S SYR 6' 10" B 1 8 - 12 1/8 - 5/16 Mag-Medium Ex-Fast Quote
Fishinthefish Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 My full opinion as to why you can save money, and get the same or better quality if you're willing to wait about a month for a rod from DVT. Take the extra 200 and buy yourself some tackle. I have two NRX rods, one was just retired and the other will be retired from DVT over winter. Quote

Although I am trading in several rods that are no longer used to fund this purchase. Quote
Dypsis Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I only own 2 spinning rods - the NRX 852 and MB Simoom. The 852 is a AMAZING rod - super sensitive and versatile. I've fished light t-rig (mostly tubes), shakyhead (my got to is 3/16oz as well), dropshot, weightless senkos, mojo rigs, and more. I can't comment on the other 2 as I haven't handled them but the 852 really is an amazing stick. You can't go wrong with the 852 IMO. 1 Quote

I like the extra length. Thanks for the input!! Quote
Airman4754 Posted July 23, 2016 Posted July 23, 2016 Megabass Orochi XX Shaky Head model and use the leftover to buy five years worth of bait. Quote
Super User ChrisD46 Posted July 23, 2016 Super User Posted July 23, 2016 I like something at about 6'10" M XF ...* While you can put a number of different soft plastics on a shaky head - it's all about the worm first and foremost !! I have rigged craws , tubes , flukes , etc. on a shaky head and nothing day in and day out gets bit more than a Zoom Green Pumpkin Trick Worm (or similar worm) . Quote
