Either the Super Spook Jr. or their one knocker. Add an oval split ring and you're good to go.

A Super Spook is around $7.  Can't get a bait that good for much less.

Super Spook or Rattling Chug Bug ;)

The heddon spook costs about $7, any cheaper and the bait won't be very good

Definitely the original. Look around at different places online and you can probably find them on sale somewhere

Vimageoutdoors.com has originals, chug-n-spooks, and one knocker spooks on sale for $4.99-5.79

heddon is a classic. strike king sexy dawgs are killer baits. but my new favorite is the tsunami talking popper. walks like a champ with splashing action. cast like a bullet on light braid

I am kind of a top water nut, I like trying the new baits that come out and have a bunch of them.   In my opinion get yourself a bone colored spook Jr.    and call it a day.     It might not be the very best, but day in and day out it catches fish.

If you just want to spend some money on a good bait, the shower blows shorty by evergreen and the Lucky Craft Gunfish are both good.

Another fan of the super spook jr here -- it's one of those "just right" baits on performance vs. price. The Sebile Flat Belly walker is also pretty inexpensive and both sizes walk well. The sebile does sit funny though, as mentioned above, and thus gets fouled with weeds a little more often than the spooks if you've got vegetation just under the surface.
