I were a little faster with the camera.

 I was replacing one of my docks on Tuesday when a pickerel beached itself on the floating dock while chasing a dragon fly.  The fish ie there for about 10 seconds as if it were figuring out how to remedy it's situation.  Then twitched into the water before I even thought, self, get the camera and film this.  

This is morning, while out flipping some lays downs, I pitched my craw imitation into a lay down.  While it sank and I anticipated a 15lb monster to inhale my bait a starling landed on my rod.  About 4 feet from the handle it perched.  my first reaction was to blurt out, you gotta be kiddin.  After staring at it for a bit, self remembered camera.  Problem being....  Rod was in right hand and phone was in right pocket.  I pondered for a second... Do I change hands with the rod or reach around with the left?  Not being much for reach arounds I opted for the hand switch.  Bird didn't like that.

Though I have no photographic evidence of either event I have neat stories.  The old man witnessed the the pickerel beaching but I was all by my lonesome with my new feathered friend.  maybe self will be bettered prepared with camera in the future.

The biggest deer I ever saw was on a N Georgia mountain road in the sticks.I thought it was a horse at first.My camera was up on the dash( I wasn't hunting) When I grabbed it the strap had got stuck around a little peg on the vent and I couldn't get it off.The deer is just standing there looking my way.Finally I leaned forward and tried to snap a pic with it still attached.At that moment the deer just ran off the side of the mountain.No pic.!

From eagles to ospreys to blue birds; otters; snakes; beavers; jumping carp; feeding frenzies; you just can't get photos of everything you see while on the water.

I just relax and enjoy seeing Mother Nature at work.

Indeed.  It's half the reason I fish.  I forget the camera for this very reason.

Nothing like those special moments with nature. I always have my cell phone with me and try to capture those moments. Mostly to show others how great it is and what they are missing. There will always be stories with no proof. But if you can get that once in a lifetime event on camera, it's even more special to share with others

i always have my phone on me while outdoors, but rarely do i scramble to find it to take pictures or video of anything while i'm fishing .. that's my time to commune with nature after being boxed up indoors most of the week.  Not that i haven't tried to capture something unique on film, it's just that by the time i fumble for the phone iv'e missed the event myself and nobody wins!..

It's awesome when things like that happen, and the more time you spend outdoors, the more cool things you get to witness!

 

I saw a black bear who is supposed to eat "berries and grasses" kill a deer and drag it off no more than 30 yards behind me one time.

Fishing ponds in a canoe, I generally only bring my phone with me for my evidence. A couple weeks ago I was out fishing and the bass were chasing bluegill out of the water all around me, and I thought, well geez, I should film this! But as soon as I pulled my phone out they had stopped.

I am on my 6th camera/Phone in the past 18 months. I always drop it in the water but that insurance is sure worth the money. The quality on the new phones is simply fantastic, I recently had a 4lb Bass Beach itself Chasing my Jig which was snagged on a Branch a foot from shore, it popped off, and the Bass came flying out of nowhere and beeched itself for a good 5 seconds before it managed to get in the water.

I need a Go Pro. I would love to watch that in slow motion since it happened so fast, It goes to show how aggressive fish can be when they want something. It would be cool to have that Pickeral scene on video, I enjoy watching highlights of guys who have You Tube Channels and they document their tournaments and cut them into 10 minute videos.

Some of these guys have really intersting Channels, and I would think if you spend enough time on the water, you would get 2-3 amazing clips every year.
