Ersteman Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 I want to add a large soft plastic swimbait on the Bubba Shot and wanted to fish it deep on Douglas Lake with a vertical presentation. Can you recommend a soft plastic swimbait(that doesn't break the bank) to put on my beefier drop shot rig? I don't want it to float too high or sink too low. I was thinking giving the magnum fluke a try, but I don't want to buy a bunch of baits to have them not work. Have you guys tried this before? The reason for doing the Bubba Drop shot instead of fishing a regular swimbait set up is because I wanted a more vertical presentation. Does anyone see any problems with attempting this technique? I was going to go with something like 40lb braid with a 8 or 10lb fluoro leader. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted July 20, 2016 Super User Posted July 20, 2016 You can drop shot anything - it's a terminal rig, not a style. I know quite a few that have been drop shotting smaller Keitechs, so I don't see why a big one wouldn't work. 2 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted July 21, 2016 Super User Posted July 21, 2016 There's some guy who fishes what he calls a "swim shot" in the midwest, I think he had a blog or something that I stumbed across. I've seen him use a mattlures hardgill on a drop shot rig, so anything is possible. Keitech would also be my reccomendation Quote
Fishinthefish Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 3x for keitech. I imagine that paddle tail would give you great action. Quote
Ersteman Posted July 21, 2016 Author Posted July 21, 2016 Thanks guys. I have a few Keitechs I will try. Quote

lakeannaangler Posted July 21, 2016 Posted July 21, 2016 Keitechs are good baits as are the lake fort tackle magic shad Quote
Airman4754 Posted July 22, 2016 Posted July 22, 2016 I use 17lb fluoro for leader, a gammy 5/0 super line EWG, 3/8oz lead, and a 7" magnum Fluke. It's good for flipping docks and deep structure. Quote
