Anyone have any tips on bending back a bent Bowmount shaft. It's an old Motorguide that I had for years and just not willing to let it go. I bent it on a sandbar And had the back motor running . was too lazy to pull up before changing spots.  ???

Mine was a 40lb thrust bow mount that I bent, come to find out that it was a aluminum shaft. Took it to a Motor Guide service center and had it repaired, replaced the shaft with a Stainless Steel one and work's great and a lot tougher. $132.50.

If you only care about fuction, take it off th boat and clamp the shaft (the whole motor) vertcally in a pipe vise and use a pipe bender - with caution.  I've done that twice with good results, only a few scratches from the vise.

Depending on how bad it is bent, a shaft replacement may be in order... if you are comfortable doing the work yourself, the shafts are not real expensive.
