How to get into the water for under 100$

Hey BR, I just bought my first car and have put aside 400$ for gas, I still have about 100 bucks and am wondering what's the best watercraft for my price range.

Find a cheapo boat of any kind of craigslist.  I've bought several 10-12' Jon boats in that pice range.

You can find em used for 100. I think new this one was like 180 or so. The pvc rod rack cost me 25 bucks in material and allows for 3 rod storage. My sonar is a heavy jig. Plenty of storage. Get some flippers!

Keep an eye on the local classified papers.  My wife bought an old 14' aluminum V bottom boat for $50.  Its held more beer than fish, so far...but a boat like this one could get you on the water for cheap.  Just add a transom mount trolling motor, and it'll take you anywhere you want to go.

You actually can't deny that one small lakes or ponds it would be pretty darn effective.

look for a canoe on craigslist.  they are less stable and heavier than a kayak but youll find one for 100 bucks or less.  I bought one for $65 bucks a couple years before I bought my tin boat. Served me very very well.

Just don't get stuck under the trees during a storm and have a snake fall out of said tree.  You will flip that canoe quicker than you can say snake, haha.  Ive never seen my friend move so fast....

I'd love to do something similar to this - but I don't have a truck or a car that can tow anything (at least I know  the transmission in my car isn't the kind to take that kind of abuse and the car doesn't have a hitch). 

My brother and I are looking into something that we can use to get on the water as we're not having a lot of luck bank fishing (but that might be because it's so hot out).

I'm mostly weary of something inflatable because...  Well...  We've got sharp pieces of metal around something that only floats if it still has air in it.  lol

Inflatable kayaks, those float tubes, etc.

Until you hooked a big 'un and you're going for a swim with your battery and running motor, that is.  

 

It's one of those things that works...  Until it doesn't.  

I did mean to say I've seen a 4x8 skid with a bunch of milk jugs that were wrapped in duct tape somehow secured underneath it.  The guy was moving slow as molasses but he was floating and fishing with a full deck and he couldn't have spent more than $30- most of that being duct tape.  If he had a bow mount TM and a seat he might really be onto something!

Honestly, looking at the watercraft available, like the Sea Eagle and others, I'm frankly flabbergasted by the prices.  $900 for the Sea Eagle???  Good Lord.  Then put the battery, TM, depth finder, etc on top of that and you're waaay over $1000.
