Today I stopped at one of my local creeks to eat lunch and let the kid feed the ducks. Had a older guy out fishing and he had a cooler with him. I watched him catch a very small bass on a worm and Expected him to throw it back. Nope, He knocks it on the pick neck table to kill it and throws it in the cooler. I lost it and walked over to him while my wife watched our daughter . He did not speak any English but he knew why I came over and tried to play dumb. I pointed at the dead fish laying on ice and used words that I cannot repeat here.  then his son grabs the cooler and sits on it and just gives me the meanest look. Turns out his son speaks perfect English and it went way downhill from here. He was trying to defend his dad but Knew they had been wrong and Pretty much went to the "I don't give a ****" defense." My wife called the game warden and of corse they leave. I did give the game warden his tag but I know he will not be punished most likely. I am still hot under the collar about it. Totally ruined my morning. This is a small lake ran by the forestry department and it has a limited amount of bass in it. Most people catch and release but he had to be that one guy. I bed he did not have a fishing permit as well.

So you flipping out because he killed a fish? The fish was caught on a worm? The guy used a cooler?

I wasn't there but from what I gather he planned to eat the fish hence the cooler. You know people have ate fish since the beginning of time contrary to today's PC media hype to release every gosh darn fish ever caught.

Judging people not knowing the entire situation isn't always the smartest move. Not everyone was raised the same from the same country. Much less following the internet PC rules for proper fishing. Could be where the dad was from this is normal fishing. Could be his family was poor and hungry. It would be very hard to know all that from a duck feeding picnick.

If your issue was it was under the legal limit fine save yourself the heart attack play it cool stay the heck out of it. Make the phone call and amazing the game warden shows up and does his thing. You sticking your nose in ruined the whole bust. No evidence, no perp, etc.

Also some people don't take lightly to some stranger coming at them aggressively because they don't approve of whatever someone else is doing.

Might try self control. In this day and age going in all hyped up like that could get ya shot.

I understand the frustration, but please next time let your local GW handle the situation. A 10" bass is no reason to get yourself shot in front of your family over. It was too late for that fish anyways, so there's no rush. Yeah, he might caught a couple more fish that get clunked before the Warden gets there, he might catch 20 more, but man at the end of the day it's just a fish. People get killed over cheeseburgers and spilled beers all the time, it's not worth it.

Not trying to condemn or belittle you over what you did OP, but we live in different times now where there's lots of people out there that put no value on human life and you never know when you might run into one of those people.

You are right. I just let my emotions get the best of me and I need to control that . I just feel like if you are going to fish a body of water then at least follow the rules. So I was wrong because our regulation has just changed to no minimum limit on July 1st. But The Game warden has told me about people leaving dead fish and trash behind at this lake so he took the guys info anyway. He told me the same as you guys about not approaching people the way I did. I was wrong for that.

Off topic: Why in the world would they remove minimum limits on bass? what is someone really going to do  with a 1lb fish? Forgive me as have only been bass fishing for about a year but I catch a lot of small bass and they don't look to be worth it for the little bit of meat you would get. Again I have never fillet a fish so This is just me looking for answers.

He might well be doing you a favor.  As your DNR probably figured out, the lake might have been getting stunted by having too many small bass.  Thinning the one pounders MAY make a profound improvement in the number of future trophies in there.  Too many small ones can and does lead to too few biguns.

The lake I just bought a lot on is doing exactly this.  Any bass below 13" is supposed to be kept with no limits on numbers.

Yup. In my defense the regulations changed on the 1st and they removed the minimum for bass. I did some research and the smaller bass eat more forage then bigger bass. This leaves the bigger bass with less to feed on.
