Best Mono for Texas Rig

I've been using 15-pound Trilene Big Game for my 1/8-ounce Texas Rigs. I fish around trees and pretty heavy cover, and when I set the hook, I set hard. I only like using mono; I hate braid. The only problem is my Trilene keeps getting very frayed and breaks on me. So, I'm looking to buy some bulk 20-pound mono for my Medium Heavy Texas rig rod. My question is what brand of 20-pound bulk monofilament should I buy. I want a strong line that holds up to the abrasion around the trees. Thanks!

stick with Big Game,if it frays with Big Game it will fray with just about anything out there. experience has taught me that !!!!!! the only other mono I use is Ande, made for saltwater. you can try that.good luck.

Try a spool of Maxima Ultra green and test it before buying any bulk quantity.

Big Game is inexpensive and simply change when it gets damaged.

I would try maxima ultra green and Sufix seige, two of the toughest mono lines out there

Any chance you just got a bad spool? I fished another brand for years but got back to back bad spools ...bought at different times back in the Spring and broke off several nice fish at KY lake. I contacted the company, didnt get any help...so i switched to Big Game and haven't looked back. Ive pulled some nice fish out of some nasty wood. 15lb is hard to break off....I'm seriously thinking about going to 12lb so i quit pulling in my Bass Tracker when i try to break off.

I'm a Big Game user as well. I have simplified my stuff to use 12# on my cranking rods and my Texas Rig setups. 

Look at it like this people are "finesse" fishing for bass with 4 # and 6# line and I don't see thread after thread of complaints of loosing fish. 12# will handle all most will need.  Unless your pitching in the slop or heavy cover of some sort. 

Big Game may get some abrasion fishing but it's usually not a issue. Its cheap replace it before next trip.

It's the kinks from a backlash, the nicks from being hauled around, the fancy knots that are improperly applied etc etc that will bring you more issues. These issues are usually blamed to the line manufacturer when that is usually not the case. User error is far more likely.

I personal do not believe you'll find a more abrasion resistance line;  mono, copoly, or fluorocarbon.

At least I aint found any

"Best" mono for texas rig? Sunline Defier. Unfortunately I haven't had the same good results with 12# big game as others. Maybe I don't change it out enough?

big game is great line to me, i also like the suffix siege as far as mono goes, but that's used more for moving baits.

I have tried many different monos but I keep finding my way back to Big Game. Cheap, durable, great knot strength, and not bad memory (especially when used with line conditioner). Tough to beat.
