jtipton91 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 What soft swimbaits are you guys using this summer with success? I have a hudd 68 weedless I am having success with at times, but my curious nature wants me to try new things! Quote
Nice_Bass Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Berkley slim shad on 1oz jigheads or rigged through the horizontal portion with a treble placed in the bend of keel sb hook. Slim shad fishes a lot bigger than a 6 inch bait. I honestly have stopped throwing pre rigged soft swimbaits. Think you can be more versatile with some other options for less cost. Quote
Nathan Burton Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I have some solid success throwing the larger Keitech swing impacts fats on a weighted hook. 2 Quote

Kid Catch Posted July 15, 2016 Posted July 15, 2016 I've had excellent results with a RI Little Dipper rigged on a 1/16th springlock. If the smallies are feeding higher up and busting pods, I'll nose hook a 3 1/2" fork tailed jerk I pour myself and twitch it erratically on the surface between brief pauses. That Dipper sure gets bit out here on the D though. Strangely, between white, pearl/purple back, smoke, & black/blue, they don't seem to favor one color over another, with the exception of striper which tend to eat the pearl/purple better than the others. Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 16, 2016 Global Moderator Posted July 16, 2016 The Savage Gear 3D bluegill floating version has been catching some fish for me. It has a great glide if you crank it hard and kill it. Quote

Airman4754 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The 6" Speed Shad, which is a fat impact copy but much larger than the biggest fat impact. I also use magnum flukes. I rig them on a 3/4oz scrounger and cut the bottom humps off so the bait is flat which gives it much better action. The other way is to just rig it weightless with a 6/0 heavy wire EWG and count it down to where they are suspended then just fish it like you would a normal fluke. Lastly I run a 7" tora tube with a 1/2oz tube head and put a spinnerbait trailer hook on it. You have to cut the tube body pretty far up so you'll need to glue it back together when you are done. Then just crack fish it on bottom like you would a normal tube for smallies. Quote
Cgrinder Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 The 6" Speed Shad is much larger than the 5.8" Fat Impact? Quote
Airman4754 Posted July 16, 2016 Posted July 16, 2016 I've never seen the 5.8, so I guess they would be similar. Quote
