Todd2 Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 A buddy told me about the Whopper Plopper and after searching for it here I don't know how I hadn't heard about it. I'm not a big top water guy but I do have a couple Buzz'n Frogs that I've had a little action on. The bait monkey is telling me to add the WP as well. They do about the same thing....any reason to listen to the monkey? Quote
Hog Basser Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 My first 3 fish on the WP in under an hour, all over 3 lbs. 2 Quote
U-boat Aficionado Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I have a black loon colored Whopper Plopper I throw in the evening and it works well. It's also fun to use with the unique sound and spitting wake. But like any new lure there's hype involved. If the fish are biting I get similar results with torpedo or spook type lures. If money is burning a hole in your pocket, it's a neat lure and well made for the price. 1 Quote
Hog Basser Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Well, two of those are the same fish, guess I didn't get a pic of the 3rd one since I was having so much fun! Quote
Evan K Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 A friend with whom I fish 5 days a week has a couple whopper ploppers and he has done extremely well with them. I haven't gotten one yet but will sometime. 1 Quote
FCPhil Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I bought the whopper plopper 90 in phantom shad. I have caught numerous fish of all size. The fact if floats makes it able to be stopped unlike a buzzbait but it has a realistic fish profile unlike a frog. This is what sold me on it and I'm glad I bought it. I recommend the 130 size. I have caught big ones on the 90 but I have caught plenty of dinks too. 2 Quote
Todd2 Posted July 14, 2016 Author Posted July 14, 2016 Bait monkey wins again I guess. My record against him is not good. Thanks everyone! Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted July 14, 2016 Super User Posted July 14, 2016 I was hesitant paying 17 bucks for my first 130 size one, but after having one of my best days of fishing ever on it....I did not hesitate on my second . I caught my 3rd and 5th biggest bass ever on the same day last saturday using the perch color (white belly). I just ordered the loon color (black belly) for some night fishing. My dad was with me that day and he tried every topwater he had and didn't even come close to the success I had with it (he didn't have one). The sound it produces is very unique and they were hitting it over the buzzbaits my dad was trying like 5 : 1. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 16, 2016 Global Moderator Posted July 16, 2016 The WP is a very unique bait in the way it sounds, how much water it throws, and how much of a commotion it makes. I fish the 130 and have not tried another bass bait like it. 1 Quote
