Senko Fishing

What pound test would be best suited for senko fishing using Fluoro? I've always used 8 pound mono and it seemed to work. Is fluoro make that much of a difference with senko fishing?

i use 8-14lb depending on the size of the senko and how i rig it

A quality fluoro offers good slack line sensitivity. It's nice for weightless plastics. The size line would be determined by where you are fishing at. Also compare line diameter not the poundage. One companies #8 could be another's #10. I tend to use 10-12 the most.

Depends on how you fish it.  Agree with 10-12# if you are t-rigging weightless.

On my texas rigged Senko style baits, I use 12 lb and for wacky rigged I use 6 lb.

Yeah I will be using it on a spinning rod for t-rigged senkos. Could I use it for light top water like Jitterbugs also?

I just use plain old monofilament in 8lb on my spinning reels for Senko baits since the water is usually murky.  Never a problem with big bass in the grass.

For Texas rigged senkos I like 10-15lb fluorocarbon. For wacky rig I like 20lb braid with a 7lb fluoro leader

For senkos I like mono because you get a slower fall than with fluoro. I use 8 pound mono for the 4" senko, and up to 15 pound test for the 5" senko.

I prefer the sensitivity of a premium fluoro for slack line fishing or contact baits.  Co-Poly if I'm on a tight budget.  

I use #6/#8 for 4" or 5" weightless Senkos in any presentation.  I switch to Bait Casting gear and #10/#12 line for wacky rigging 6" senkos.  I only wacky rig the 6 and 7 inchers.

I use Power Pro on all my reels. Some get a P-line CoPo or Stren leader. Works well for me.

I have no use for any Flouro. In fact I can't stand the stuff.

It doesn't work well with plugs that sit still or have slack line like walk the dog lures. Flouro sinks so it affects the action tremendously.

8lb is fine. I use 6, 8, and 10lb fluoro for wacky,
or I use 6-10 lb Yo Zuri Hybrid. Using fluoro 
more lately since I bought some Gamma Edge
and am really enjoying it.

I'd say 8 is most common for my wacky rigging
as of now.

On my BFS rig (what I use most often for T-Rigged Senkos) I use 30 lb. bright green Suffix 832 braid FG knotted to a Lake Fork FluoroHybrid leader.

I use either 7 lb. or 10 lb depending on what the bottom is like - I go to the 10 lb if it's rocky.

I use the bright green Suffix so I can watch the line more easily.  The rod I use is 7' 1" long, so I start with a 6 ft. leader and re-tie when it gets down to about 3 ft.

I learned about this line from a video on this site, tried it and have been delighted with the results.

Do you guys think Fluoro is a big advantage overall on  Senko fishing with a spinning set up. Enough to make the jump from mono? I fish a 5" Senko weightless with a medium/extra fast rod?

If you are using a spinning rod just use braid and a fluorocarbon leader. The memory is not worth it on a spinning reel. If you were using a baitcast set up, then I would use straight fluorocarbon. The big thing about fluorocarbon that is great for Senko fishing is its slack line sensitivity.

If I was using it this way, I'd use 15# braid, and a 8-12# mono leader. A senko is heavy enough that leader material won't matter, but you'll be able to toss little top waters without issue.  In fact, I have a rig set up just like this.  I also use it for little jerk baits and wacky jigs.
