Fishin' Fool Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What are you all using to clean your rods? Soapy water or do you have a specific product? Thanks. Quote
Philo Beddoe Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 To clean the eyes, I just spray some line conditioner on them and wipe off with a paper towel. Then I usually wipe down the rest of the rod with the conditioner that's on the paper towel. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Depending on the soil level simple green rinsed with warm water, mr clean magic eraser for cork, Pledge polish on the Rod and u40 cork sealer on grips. 2 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted July 12, 2016 Super User Posted July 12, 2016 Go to http://www.itainttv.com/ This is Wilson Frazier "The Professor" own website. Look down on the lower lefthand side and look at 4 of his products. First I use Rod Glow for cleaning, waxing and adding a bit of uv protection. Next I use Cork Magic for cleaning up the cork handle. I use Krystal Vision for my depthfinders and sunglasses and lastly Shazzam to clean up and wax my boat and engine. Watch his videos on each product. I have been told his braid aid is pretty good too but I have not tried it yet. I met Wilson at the Richmond Boat and Outdoor show many years ago. I also own his dvd collection on GPS& sonar. They are like going to school. Quote
TxHawgs Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I'm gonna check out the products on the site mentioned above. But as of now when I get a new rod the cork gets sealed with U-40 and the rod and new reel get a lite coat of pure carnuba wax on them. After coming off the water I wipe the rods down with some windex on a rag. Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted July 13, 2016 Super User Posted July 13, 2016 A Magic Eraser is the easiest way to clean cork. The rest of the rod gets cleaned when needed with soap and water. I've never waxed a rod, but I will wax the guides before a winter trout fishing trip. The wax will not keep the guides from icing up, but a sharp rap on the rod will knock the ice right out of the waxed guides. Quote
