Well what I never thought would happen"..happened yesterday. While smallie fishing on the Delaware I flipped my Kayak. Not even sure how or why it happened.  Water was just a little rough (not bad at all) I was paddling across, the side dipped down and over I went! Glad to have my PFD on......for all the times I thought rod leashes were a silly idea, I wish I had them!! 4 rods gone forever along with a iPhone.  Amazingly I saved 99% of my gear! Still, not a fun day!

Sorry to hear that man - I lost 1 rod over the weekend that fell off the boat while motoring to another spot on the lake, I can't imagine losing all of my poles.

At least you are safe and was able to save most everything else.

Hard lesson learned, I suppose - you are now that much wiser.

Have a good day bud.

That sucks man, I know from experience unfortunately. I bought some foam pipe insulation and cut it down to fit between my reel and first guide then zip tie it on. It's a little neater than leashes imo.

Man that's awful. Sorry for the loss. That's why literally *everything* is either tethered or floated on my kayak. Every rod, my tackle back, all of it.

Good for you for wearing your PFD. I won't go out in my kayak (except down little creeks) without one.

Watched one from our group on Friday tip, and three rods went in the river.  All 3 had rod floats and all 3 were recovered immediately.  I haven't used them myself, but they're on next tackle shop visit shopping list.

Glad you're OK.  Nice that you were able to salvage a good majority of your gear but it's a bummer you lost your rigs.

As for thinking that your Kayak would never capsize ~ clearly not a daily occurrence but certainly a possibility.

Otherwise why wear the Life Jacket ?

Wow.  That sucks.  If you know where you rolled and lost them, call a local scuba club and offer to pay one of them to try to recover them.  A buddy just had to do this.  Cost him $50 to recover ~$1200 worth of gear.

Isn't it the law that you are required to wear a PFD in a kayak?  In Minnesota I think its mandatory.
