fluna Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Has anyone used the Shimano Casitas? I have read the reviews and it seems good. I am newer to baitcasting. Lews Tournament TS1XHMB, Shimano Casitas are what I looked at today. Really not sure what to get so many options. I fish about 90 % buzz baits and poppers in small lakes in MIchigan. Also looking for a good rod trying to stay under$300. Quote
NYBasser Posted July 9, 2016 Posted July 9, 2016 Don't know too much about the Casitas, but check out the St. Croix Mojo Bass or any of the Dobyns rods. Dobyns Fury is a good rod for around $110. Quote
Super User lmbfisherman Posted July 10, 2016 Super User Posted July 10, 2016 300 total? Or just the rod? I'd suggest a Zodias rod. I bought one in June and now I have three! They are sensitive, light and quickly becoming my favorite rods. I haven't used a Casitas but the few people I know say they are good work horse reels. Quote
DaleGribble Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 I read good things so I ordered one. It came today. Obviously havent had a chance to try it yet, but it feels pretty nice. Quote
ghost Posted July 10, 2016 Posted July 10, 2016 Shimano Casitas is a very good reel for the price. Casts great, a couple gear ratio options, SVS cast control and it's quite smooth. You can get them less than retail on that auction site. Handled this 3lb bass on a popper great. That rod you see is the new Berkley Amp, 7' MH, sells for $30. Wonderful rod. That setup is under $150. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted July 10, 2016 Global Moderator Posted July 10, 2016 I have a Casitas and like it really well so far. I'm using it for jerkbaits and topwater. Quote
