FrankN209 Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Looking for a decent rod for trolling? What would you suggest? Some where around 150.00. Quote
Super User Team9nine Posted July 8, 2016 Super User Posted July 8, 2016 Trolling for what, and with what? Wouldn't think you'd need to go anywhere near $150 for a good trolling rod - more likely $100 or less. -T9 Quote

Super User fishnkamp Posted July 8, 2016 Super User Posted July 8, 2016 First what are you trolling for and are you using dipsey divers, planer boards or simply using in line weights Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted July 8, 2016 Super User Posted July 8, 2016 I used to troll for perch and walleye using Cabelas Tourney Trail IM7 rods. my wife and I purchased the TTC704-2. It is a 2 piece 7 foot rod lure weight 1/4 to 5/8. That rod sells for roughly $70 from Cabelas. We actually trolled our lakes throwing worm spinner rigs. If you intend to troll larger deep diving crankbaits I would get the same series but the heavier rod. We matched them up with Diawa's AcuDepth reels. Made the hole job of finding my quarry and repeating the whole thing again. We would rig up worms or minnows on the spinner rigs, let out so much line and adjust the inline weight say 1/4 on one and 3/8 or 1/2 ounce on the other. Now using my gps I would troll adjusting my speed. Whatever the first fish hit on both rods would be rerigged the same. Now let out the same amount of line ,using the line counters, and troll again at the same speed as before. Check the rod and reel at Cabelas 1 Quote
FrankN209 Posted July 8, 2016 Author Posted July 8, 2016 Thanks fishnkamp for the info. Never trolled before and was just looking for some insight. I'll just being trolling for trout with line and weights. I have a old BPS Bionic blade 7' Med IM8 Rod and a Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4. I've been doing some reading online also. Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted July 8, 2016 Super User Posted July 8, 2016 Will you be trolling live bait or artificial baits like spoons and Rapalas? Quote
