Mark Anderson Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 I just recently acquired this combo in trade for some work from a guy. He's a closed face reel person, but I won't hold that against him, Lol. He said he tried to cast out a few times and it backlashed on him. He brought it to me and it took about 45 minutes to get his mess untangled. I set the tension and brake and it casted just fine, he was like "wow!!! How did you do that??" I just smiled and cast again. Then we worked out a trade for me working on his pickup, so now it's mine. I got kinda discouraged when I seen it on Wal-Mart's website for $11 and thought I got the ugly end of the stick, but I also read where it was around $60-$65. Maybe that was the clearance price. What do you guys think? Quote

Boogey Man Posted July 6, 2016 Posted July 6, 2016 If it will cast a lure and reel back in, go fishing with it and have fun. RW is just sour Pinnacle didn't give him one to review?. 1 Quote
Super User fishnkamp Posted July 7, 2016 Super User Posted July 7, 2016 That is true about the Walmart price. Several of my friends and I have purchased some rods from Wal-Mart. One was a Falcon Buccoo for $40 and it was selling in other retailers for close to $100. I do not think anything other than i got the deal.. That reel throws crankbaits and rattle traps really well.. If you can cast it well go use it. Quote
Super User kickerfish1 Posted July 7, 2016 Super User Posted July 7, 2016 What do we think about what? Are you wanting to know what its value is? Are you wondering if you should keep it? If you don't have a place in your arsenal for it or if you don't like it just give it back to your friend, sell it, or give it to a youngster to learn on. Quote

What do you guys think? I bought the combo. The reel is not great but a good learning reel. The rod is great. I still use it for cranks and t-rig. I paired it with a black Max. Never leave home without it. Mark, keep the rod but upgrade the reel. Quote
