I finally broke and purchased spro rats. Got a killer deal and ended up with the 30,40, and 50 size for $45 shipped. Will hopefully get to throw them this weekend.

You cannot go wrong! I've fished the BBZ-1's a lot and can attest to their productivity. Have not tried the rats yet, but they gotta be just as effective. Good Luck!

I have the 40 and it is pretty sweet. haven't caught anything on it yet but that has more to do with me not having had the chance to fish it much and not the baits effectiveness.

I have two 50's and a 40. They're a blast to fish and they get the job done. Best budget friendly rat on the market imo.  One of my 50's is off getting some paint work so I'll post it when I get it back. Should be here end of the week.

I bought a size 50 a couple weeks ago in the natural brown/white belly color. I got my first fish on it the other day (my third outing with it, throwing the bait only part time). Though the 50 size may seem intimating, the bass wasn't even that large, maybe a 2 pounds at most. The action is dual part, with the ability to walk the dog, and also a steady surface retrieve with a single knocking rattle. I have confidence that it will prove to coax some large fish to the surface for a meal.

I've got two 50s (1 in morning dawn and 1 custom painted black) and one 40 in morning dawn. Have only thrown the 40 once so far and not in ideal conditions but have thrown the 50s several times and have caught a bunch of fish on em, including a PB "swimbait" fish of 5lbs. 20150710_100619.jpg
