I'm trying to decide my next spinning reel purchase. I have a couple of Stradic Ci4 2500's but am considering the Revo STX30. I've never had an Abu spinning reel but they (Abu) seem to have made significant strides in their spinning reels. I'm thinking to get the Stradic FK3000 or the Revo STX30 - both are at the same price point so it's apples to apples in this regard. Weight and bearing count, both of which are not as important to me as smoothness and longevity/reliability, are in favor of Revo. I've read lots of feedback on the Stradic and they are nice but would the Revo be just as good or even better? Any Revo spinnning owners out there? Thanks!

I have the Stradic FJ 2500 and was fishing with a buddy of mine last weekend who has the Revo. He was having problems with the Revo and he had already sent it back to have it replaced once. I love my Stradics.

I was hesitant to put out that kind of money for a Stradic, but glad I did. Awesome reel! I have the 2500 and solely use it for my finesse set up.

The stradics are nice.  If I was going to upgrade, I would use that model.  I currently mostly use the Sahara which I believe is "one step down in quality" from the stradic.

Save some money go look at a Pflueger President. They are bulletproof.  Just do some reading on some of the recent threads on this topic.  There are at least 6 to a dozen just in the last 30 days.  The President in a 6930 should work for you for the next decade.  Some of mine are still working perfectly and are between 1 and ten years old.

Couldn't have said it better.

I was in this similar dilemma a couple weeks ago and some folks recommended the Pres! When I compared the two in feel, weight and smoothness the Stradic felt imo much better in every category. It all depends on the bones you have to spend. JMO

I'm not sure what the life is on the President reels but I have a Stradic FH going for 10 years plus now working like new.

Have to agree with you. I have two, President Limited Edition President and the Supreme XT. both are fine reels.

I would save the money amd get a pflueger supreme so  that way you can afford a nicer rod to pair with it.

Thanks for all the feedback. I have confidence in the Shimano reels (and Daiwa) but was hoping to get some feedback on the new(er) Abu Revo spin reels. I'll throw Pfleuger into the mix as well.

My wife and I we have gotten rid of all of our other spinning reels and replaced them with 7 Pflueger Presidents . We fish hard for both bass and rockfish here on the bay. All of our spinning reels are Pflueger presidents in 3925-30-35 and 40 series. My oldest two are almost 10 years old, the rest are between 2 and 9 years old. They have all held up well.  Her largest fish caught on them include two 6 pound smallies from Dale Hollow Lake, a bunch of rock between 14 and 28 inches, as well as a 6 1/2 pound catfish that hit a lure on her G Loomis GL2 721 ML  6 foot rod. That was  super fun to watch her as she was run around the boat by that fish. She landed it but it took about 10 minutes.

I've got a revo stx spinning reel on a medium Rod for some of my finesse fishing. I've had it about. Year now and so far I have had zero issues with it. The drag seems to be consistent and is still smooth as butter. I thoroughly enjoy fishing it.

I had an Abu Revo for my wife for about a week before I returned it and got her a Pflueger Supreme XT. I fish Shimano spinning reels. Abu would be at least in third place on my selection list at this point.

I've had higher end spinning reels from Shimano, Pfluegar, and Abu the last few years. No longer own the Abu reels, never had line twist as bad as they produced. Only 1 Shimano CI4 remaining, the rest are all Pfluegar. The Supreme XT is a superb reel and Pfluegar has been around longer than any of them for a reason.

This all day. Unless I find a smoking deal on some high end reel, I buy strictly Pfleuger for all my spinning reels. The Supreme XT is hard to beat for the money, as are pretty much all their reels.

Stradic ci4s are tried and true and on a decent sale today on TW. However have been throwing the Ballistics and just got a Procyon to see what all the hype is about. Definitely good bang for the buck. I helped a buddy fix one of his busted Abus recently, it was built like a tank  and a real PITA to work on. But it seems like a decent reel for the money.

i would take a look at the Pfluegers myself. None of my Pflueger spinning reels have ever done me wrong. I have one older Abu Cardinal that i love as well, but i wouldnt touch the newer model Abu spinning reels, they just dont look to be as good a quality as the older models. Also seen some bad reviews on the Abu spinning reels. I own a Pflueger Trion, Supreme, and two Presidents i just added this year, all going strong, working great. I would say they are on top when it comes to spinning reels in my opinion...I also own a couple Penn spinning reels which are great...

Pflueger Patriarch's are the best spinning reels i have ever fished , they are very light , smooth retrieve , and buttery drag at any setting . i had a 9240(4000 size) but just got a 9225 (1000 size) and let me tell you it's SWEET !! reel weighs 5.6 oz. and the drag is amazing ....
