Ryan1234 Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I just got a brand new baitcaster which was the *** ***. Side note I absolutely love the reel, it rarely backlashes and can absolutely launch baits. Anyways it is my first baitcaster and I'm unsure if the noise I am getting when I reel is normal or not. The noise isn't loud and I know it isn't the braking system because if I take off the side plate and pull out the spool it still makes the noise. It doesn't feel like it's grinding it just makes a noise sort of like when you reel in braid. And it's still pretty smooth when I reel. Sorry that's my best explanation. Any ideas? Thanks Quote
thirtysixit Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Some reels just have a certain noise when you crank the handle. I've had a couple BPS reels that functioned correctly but I couldn't stand the way they sounded when I was retrieving line from a cast. It may just be your reel's personality. 1 Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Keep in mind a reel is a mechanical device with several moving parts. It's not at all unusual for them to make some sound. Even the highest end reels may not be totally silent under all conditions. If you're really concerned exchange it. 2 Quote
