dgkasper58 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Absolutely worth it IMO. I do try to avoid heavy rocks with these as I feel I do not break bills and dull hooks as quickly. Only 3 years into throwing them but have had great numbers on them and VERY excited to use the 110+1 JR this year! 1 Quote

After looking at a big box full of stuff that isn’t even opened from last year, I cannot, will not, drop $30 on a single stick bait. I can’t. Feels the same as if I was going to drop $500 on a rod. I won’t. Once an eye pops off, and a hook straightens, like they do on the dark sleeper, it feels the same as it would to have a $500 rod blow up on a hook set. But the information here is very compelling me to get a few of these. It's a personal preference. What something is worth is up to the user/buyer. I personally was in same boat as you for a while, until I tried some of the higher end tackle and now I'm believer that some of the upgrades are worth it to me. I used to be a mid range tackle guy, but in the past year I have absolutely wowed my self, by putting my toe in the water with some super high end gear. But in the same token, if you aren't an avid jerkbait fisherman or inexperienced, I wouldn't spend 25 bucks on something I wouldn't use, or something that would be in my arsenal alot. For example my first 2 super high end rods, was a custom squarevill rod, and a conquest 844 for jigs, because its something that I do often. And its making a huge difference, but in same breath it's not necessary to catch fish. Back to the megabass 110, trickdarter, other.MB baits, yes I do think they perform great. Great colors. My only concern is durability. But I've only broke. 1 in the last 4 years. However, ive seen alot on fb pages where guys are breaking the lips. Duo, jackal, a a lucky craft all make good jerks, but it seems that the vision gets bites I wouldn't get otherwise. I understand you concern on a high end rod breaking, that's why I went with the conquest instead of the NRX. 1 Quote
MarkG52 Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 It was real hard to drop $25 on one bait, but I took the plunge and now have 110's in each size except the +1JR(Gift cards and BPS points help). I have caught a boat load of bass this spring on a 110+1 in Elegy Bone. Biggest went 5.75. I've also caught a few walleye on that same bait, the biggest around 4#. I try real hard to not bounce them of off rocks or stick em in tree limbs overhanging the water. Both have happened but haven't broke one or got one I couldn't get out of the tree, yet. I did break a hook off the front treble. It is now sporting a red front treble and the fish still eat it. I haven't been on the water in a couple of weeks, but right now that is my confidence bait, so, for me it's been worth it. I'm sure the bite has changed in the last couple of weeks and something else will be my confidence bait during spawn-post spawn, but I throw jerkbaits year round, so..... Quote
TheBasslayer Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 I love my Rapala Shadow Rap, but maybe I have to try the Megabass Vision 110, if I can get my parents to spend this much on a lure, especially since my birthday is coming up soon! 1 Quote

Super User GreenPig Posted April 12, 2021 Super User Posted April 12, 2021 MB 110's are great and I own a slew of them. I just simply catch more on Rapala Shadow Raps & Strike King 300's. Quote
CrankFate Posted April 12, 2021 Posted April 12, 2021 Thank god no one ever took such a well thought out approach to explaining why I should smoke some crack. The place I’m planning on using such a lure would be open water with no likelihood of bouncing into or off of anything. And that makes the problem worse. Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted April 12, 2021 Super User Posted April 12, 2021 Megabass jerkbaits are very good and lots of people catch nice fish on these jerkbaits. For those people these jerkbaits are worth it. With that said I do extremely well with jerkbaits that cost less than half the price of a Megabass so I will continue fishing the ones I have. I do buy +$20 lures for saltwater fishing since those lures are larger and built stronger. Quote
cdlittle Posted April 13, 2021 Posted April 13, 2021 I love me some JDM jerkbaits, but I still use the standard Rapalas and whatnot. In the warmer months when fish are more aggressive, any jerkbait will do well. What really sets the high end jerkbaits apart is their ability to suspend perfectly. This is sooo vital during the winter months when you need that jerkbait to sit in front of them without rising or sinking for 3-20 seconds. You can spend a bunch of time getting the perfect hooks/split rings to make cheaper jerkbaits suspend like that, or buy the high end baits that do it out of the box. I've done both and enjoy both ways. Quote
Emiliano Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 I use visions oneten JDM most of the time, they used to suspend perfectly out of the package but recently the new colours don't, so I always change the split ring on the front with a big size because usually they tend to rise too fast. I'm a MB fan, the action and the colour and details are unique but depending on the finishes (PM, GG, HT,.....) some suspend perfectly and som rise. I was impressed by the cheaper LCraft flash pointer 100, 115 an the Staysee 90, with these I always change the trebles with Owner ST36 because the stock ones are terrible but for my surprise they suspend incredibly well. But Oneten is still "The Jerkbait" Quote
Big Hands Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 The Vision 110 in Ito Wakasagi is the only lure currently in my tackle box that has the teeth marks on an 8+ lbs bass. Hard to put a price on that, but I'd have to guess it's around $25. Quote
CrankFate Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 You guys suck. I ordered 2, plus a 6th Sense Gilliken crank bait, and a LC Pointer 95, since I already won’t need to buy anything new to make it through this season, and maybe even the next season or 2. Because of all the bad influences on this site. Quote
Kelvin Posted August 8, 2022 Posted August 8, 2022 Lost the first Megabass Vision due to a tree limb underwater. 20 bucks down the drain. That said before that 2 fish in 5 casts. Yesterday morning pitched a vision 110 around a drain pipe and it felt like a freight train smashed into it. Dead stop. 5 minutes later I hauled in a 5 lb Clown Knife fish. d**n. I would gladly pay double in terms of price per bait for that experience again. 1 Quote
