Market for trophy bass ?

Read online about a private fishing lake stocked with trophy bass. And he's selling them some going for more than 10k.  Does anyone know of a market or who would really buy a 10-teener size bass for this much money? BTW the place is called camelot bell. It cost a ridiculous amount of money to fish.  I think it's like 1500 a day. Come on man.

Just checked that website.  They sell whitetail deer, too.  All right there in your home state.

Let's face it, we all have spent way more than that in our efforts to attempt to catch a DD!!

There is a long thread in the archives "Biulding the next world record bass" that explains this question. Gary Schwartz who makes a living raising trophy fish and game in Texas is more than likely the guy promoting this "market".

Not a fan of private lakes like this, it's almost like someone raising deer on feeders then sending them out to a small parcel of land to get high fenced as a trophy.

One of the problems with this is that 10+ lbs bass can go belly-up the day you drop him in the private pond. Or a big ole egret can take him out.  And if that bass reproduces there is no guarantee that that bass will reproduce other 10 lbs bass. Having said all that, if I could run a private lake that produces and sells big bass like that I would live there. Spending half of my time awake managing the lake and the other half fishing it.

There's lots of places like this around the country I'm sure.  Basically the fishing version of a game farm for pheasants, quail, and chukar, or like blckshirt said, pen-raised deer that come up to a trough.  Lots of anglers and hunters simply don't have the time, motivation, or work ethic that is required to find/catch wild fish or scout/hunt wild game.  In my book they're called lazy and unethical.

It's 4 years since this article was written and all those initial giant Frazier raised bass are gone by now. Any update on how big these bass grew? None surpassed 18 lbs, no headlines from Camalot Bell!

Fishing in these trophy bass lakes isn't much different than going to a far off destination with little fishing pressure in the hopes of catching a +10 pound bass.You still have to trick the bass to bite the lure in the end the day,even though these bass are significantly easier to catch than trophy public water bass.

 I agree with you.It seems these days people are lazy and don't want to hunt for their own trophies,whether in hunting or fishing.The whole point of catching a trophy bass is to catch a fish that is a considered a big accomplishment.When it comes to bass fishing,nothing beats the feeling of catching a trophy bass in public waters!!!
