I found this video by accident last night but thought was extremely interesting and worth sharing and opening a discussion. This guy reaches into a Large Mouth Bass's stomach and removes multiple soft plastics. He says he does it all the time. Is this revolutionary? Does it really save the bass's life? I might try it on an obviously malnourished one but I don't know....

Try again....

Pulling Senko's out of Bass.htm

Did I do something wrong posting this YouTube video? I was sure I'd get some comments...

Thank you. How did you do that?

I just copied the whole link for the video into the message field.

On the topic in question, not sure about the advisability of pulling those worms out of the stomach of a bass like that. They may swim away but is that doing more damage to the fish? That I do not know. I do know that dead sticking a soft plastic is a great way to get an educated lunker to bite so I can see them eating discarded soft plastics as that would be the ultimate dead stick presentation.

That's my big question too... does it harm the fish more than leaving them in? I was just blown away by the number of soft baits he pulled out of that fish. I think this would be a great study by a university somewhere....

Yeah, they're not necessarily saving these bass if the rough handling and time out of water harms them further. Just because it swims away doesn't mean it will survive.

It seems to me that if plastic baits can be removed without too much handling, and done quickly, it's worth doing. But I'm not just going start digging into fish stomachs to see if there's a senko or power worm to pull out.

Wow, the amount of worms pulled out was insane, but with how far they are reaching in the mouth looks like they could be doing more harm then good, but I'm no expert.

I see soft plastics on the shoreline all the time when fishing public parks, and I have caught quite a few bass with soft plastics coming out of the mouth or coming out the other end. Sadly you can't fix stupid and people are going to continue throwing soft plastics into the ecosystem.
