Looking into trying out Daiwa reels. Looking at Tatula 100. Anybody got any input on these? Been reading up on them and I was looking mainly at the Tat 100 and was going to buy the upgraded 100mm Power handles seeing as they fit all Daiwa 100 size reels. Looking at either these or Shimano Citca or the Curado. Any feedback would be appreciated

I sure do. I purchased two last year one in a 6.3-1 rh and one Type R 8-1 LH model..The Type R is on my frog rod. I liked them so much i replaced some other BPS Extreme reels that were working okay but...  Anyway i now own a total of 5 Tatulas and Type Rs and since my budget got tight I picked up one Diawa Exceler.  I like all of them. Smooth casting nice drags and feel solid.  The Type Rs have a little better sealed bearings but you will never notice any difference for the extra money. I went to the two Rs for the 8-1 gear ratio.  The Exceler is a bit cheaper ( I caught a Gander Mountain sale for $60 so it used all of my left over tackle money from this spring fishing flea market.  It works fine but there is a difference. The T wing system does add to your cast for sure.

The daiwa tatula has a large following on here and the reviews are over all very good. The citica and curado also have a huge following on this site and you will probably hear from many people saying why their favorite brand's reel is better than the other reel. I have only fished the curado and I can say that it is a very nice reel for just about anything you would need it for.

Tatula or Curado, you won't go wrong with either. I've owned both, but have since sold my Tatula. But I'm sure other guys will say the opposite. Both are great options.

I say buy both!

I have never had the Shimano Curado I in my hands but i have had an older Curado and it was fine. I do have a Shimano Chronarch in a 7.1-1  It is a nice reel but I would rather replace it next year with another Type R

I would shy away from that power handle for bass fishing. It's quite heavy and the knobs are larger than what I find comfortable. I bought one for frogging and swimbaiting on a Zillion and I don't use it; it's overkill. The 90mm Tatula stock handle is a pretty nice handle.

I own a Tatula Ct and a regular Tatula both are great reels and I plan on getting more. Definitely check them out. Daiwa is one of the top reel manufacturers along with Shimano IMO!

It would also be worth considering the Tatula CT. Smaller frame and easier to palm. Prices are about the same as well. Most of the gripes about the original Tatula were the frame being uncomfortable to palm and a few isolated incidents of bad "T-Wings" The CT model should solve both of these issues.

I ditched my casitas over the tatula 100HS. I cannot say on the Curado. but the moment I threw a 30lb braid with half oz lure, I was blown away with the TWS. its no joke man.

some people buying the new Tatula CT over the original one.. but for $20 I believe its worth it.

side plates is aluminum, CT I guess are composite

knob on 100 is custom vs regular on CT

TWS is wider on 100 vs CT

drag system specs are different

Check out the Tatula CT for $110 on the big auction site. Been hearing good feedback on those and was debating getting one, ended up getting a Citica E.

Get the tatula. Don't over think it. It's the bomb. You can find them on the auction site for right around 90$. You cannot beat it.
