Does anyone have any experience with the 76 medium heavy fast version? I'm looking to replace my frog rod and came acrossed it at a local shop.... seems stout enough. Id like a new rod to fish frogs and maybe pitching baits in heavy cover. What else might this rod be useful for? Does it have enough backbone for these apps? I'm also looking at just buying another heavy powered carbonlite.

I have a 7'0 that I use for texas rigs. The veritas line certainly run pretty stiff. I would say that rod definitely has the backbone for frogs and cover. I see no reason why it wouldn't serve the purpose.

i own two original series Veritas rods. I bought the 7 foot heavy first intending to use it for frogs.  It was a bit too stiff but makes a great deep jig rod. Next I picked up the 7 foot MH which I am really pleased with for frogs. I matched it up with a Diawa Tatula Type R in 8-1.  I got both of these from Dicks when the Veritas 2 were coming out. They blew the originals out for $25.00.

 The rod you ask about is a 7'6" medium heavy fast action.  It is rated for 12 to25 #line and lures 3/8 to 11/4.  They make a Veritas frog rod that is also 7'6" rated for 3/8 to 11/4 and 12 to 25 #line. Thar rod says medium heavy medium action and its description says it has a soft tip for throwing the frog a good distance.  I think either one will work, but it tells me Abu thought a slower action was better when frogging.  Having said that my 7 footMH almost specs the same as the non frog rod so it is personal preference.  For that kind of money have you looked at a Powell Inferno 725 or a Powell Max3D 736. They are both really nice rods and could handle both the frogs and big jigs.

I have not checked out those rods yet. This particular model caught my eye because it was in store, but they didn't have a heavy powered model which is what I was originally considering. Yet when I looked at it, it seemed more like a heavy powered rod that might handle the slop I usually fish in.  I will also look into the powells. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just so you know (as I found out) all of the Veritas rods run heavier than the rod calls for it to do. What I mean is if it say it is Medium it runs closer to Med-mh, a MH really runs closer to a hvy. Now the lure ratings seem to be correct.  Be aware also some of my friends have had to replace a few guides on their Veritas as sometimes the rings pop out. I have fished mine hard and that has not happened to me. I like my choice of the 7 foot MH as my frog rod.  I do own several of the Powells for other techniques and they make a really nice lite rod with good components, and for $150 also check out Irod Genesis II rods. I own several of those and they have a Fred's Magic stick which might be perfect for you as well.  All of those are available at Tackle Warehouse. I am lucky though, a new tackle store opened up here in MD and carries all of these as well ass Dobyns and others.  I have two friends fishing Fred's Magic stick and love em.

Not adding anything...just validating some of what's been written above:  I have a Veritas 2.0 MH 7' .   Over a year of heavy use for jigs, frogs, spinnerbaits, and more.  I found it be on the H side of MH.  I lost the insert on the tip....BUT, I fully admit that I was abusing it at the time.  Despite its faults, it is probably in the yak or on deck more of the time than any other rod I own.

I have a Medium, Fast 7.0 Veritas. Get it. I absolutely love this thing

I have the 7'6" and does quite well horsing fish out of lily pads and weeds.  I don't use it for frogs, just Texas rigs and jigs.

I think the Veritas is a tank of a rod.  I don't see how people break them.

It's a price/volume thing I believe. They're so popular and affordable to most people, that a ton of them get sold. The more of them get sold, the more there are out there to be broken. With their relatively inexpensive price tag, they're probably a lot of folks first "expensive", rod after a lifetime of fishing Ugly Sticks, so they don't know how to treat a rod. Not saying that's what happened in this case, just a theory of mine.

My BIL has a several Veritas and is as rough on his stuff as anyone I know. I know he's broken one and knocked inserts out of another, but it's really amazing to me they're not all broken the way they're treated.

Yeah, I think I paid $70 online from Walmart for the micro guide version.  Well worth it.
