Also curious.. I'm surprised he mentioned it.

Why are you surprised, he was paid to mention it to generate interest and sales... :D

If it's coming out for ICAST it should already be talked about. We hound dogs are researching baits every single day I'd figure I would have seen it here already. Maybe it was a shell cracker cut in half, or a early stages of development prototype for next year. I'm pretty sure pros will alter and test a lure for a full season (sometimes longer) before giving their stamp of approval and releasing it to be mass produced.

Either way I'd like to find out and will check back

I also caught several on the all-new Half Shell which will be debuted at Icast. It’s a great compliment to a Dream Shot when dropshotting. It has its own unique profile and darting action. The Half Shell will be a huge player, especially on smallmouth fisheries. I used it solely in a bed-fishing capacity this week and would alternate through several colors until I found one that an individual fish would react to.

This was on Strike Kings website that KVD talked about.  Can't find any pictures though

They showed a picture of the bait during Bassmaster Live on Saturday.  They showed it next to a KVD Dream Shot (Dream Shot above, Half Shell below).  It was shorter than the Dream Shot, I'd say 3.5" assuming the Dream Shot they had up was the 5" size.  The Half Shell had ripples on the top of the body as well (like an upside down Gambler Shakey Shad).  One detail I can't recall was if the tail was bulbous like the Dream Shot but my initial reaction was "it's a shorter Dream Shot with ripples".  So definitely a bait designed for light drop shot fishing, to compete with other 3-4" dropshot baits like the Jackall Crosstail Shad.

I was thinking it was a smaller shellcracker, or a modified version of shape which would be cool if they put it out. I am still learning how to fish the bait, I know it has potential but I struggle to find the right situations to use it as I mainly pitch with it, but as a trailer I never have success which is strange since I do well with the Big Bite versions which are slimmer, I wonder if that is why..Anyone clean up on the Shell Cracker? Any tips appreciated.

Strike King is putting out so many baits and lures lately, they must be making some good money. Good for them. If only they would make a longer Menace Grub and then add some appendages to the sides like the intruder from Bruiser...I love that bait and would love to see them make different styles and sizes like with the Rage Craw,DB,Lobster, Baby, I never know which is what as I dump same colors in same bag since the Rage Craws all work great. Plus I buy the same 2 colors all the time. Saves Space.

I am also calling for a 3" Rage Bug....They have both sizes in the Rodent so I would love a 3" and I would really not need any other baits except from a few from different companies.

It looks like a take off of the Havock Ike's Devils Spear.

I'd describe it as a "ribbed reaper", though I can't really tell if the tail is a flat spade like the Yamamoto California Roll, or more bulbous like a fused crawfish claw.

Here's a close up...it's like a smaller profile Yum Kill Shot with a little section of the tail dorsal fin cut out.

So glad it's a drop shot bait, now I don't have to worry about trying to fight the urge to buy any.

I wonder how that would look on the Ned rig?  Might be something to try out

The YUM Warning Shot is very similar and has a nice gliding action on a Ned rig. Cut the little head section so it sits flat and you're good to go.
