Sounds like a good deal as long as that Johnson is not a one of the FICHTS. I have heard a lot of bad things about the early ones but i'm thinkin the first ones may have been around 96. They were having a lot of problems with the computer that runs the fuel injection on the earlier ones. If its a carburated Johnson you cant go wrong. And anyone will tell you that you cant go wrong with a Ranger either. If it is a FICHT have a dealer hook it to a scanner and he can tell you how many hours are on the motor as well as the max RPM's it has turned. also have your dealer pull up the vin# on the motor to see how much warranty work the motor has had, this is an easy way to tell if the original owner has had many problems.

I would agree with gambler, but I would go one step farther, the boat is fine, but the motor would rule the boat out for me.  I'm a die hard Mercury fan, though I also like Yamaha.
