Ringonu Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Below are my two very simple attempts at airbrushing. I can say with certanty that this would have went smoother with a better airbrush. I also need to get some alligator clips. Trying to do the netting with one cloths pin and a binder clip was frustrating. I will admit that I had a practice attempt before these just to see how the gun worked and to see how some colors looked over different colors. I hope to put that practice to use on the next attempts. I figured i should start out very easy and work my way up. the one on the left was supposed to mimic Bagley's baby bass color. I went with a shad dot to make it easier. I'll add more to this post as I go along. 16 Quote

Ringonu Posted June 27, 2016 Author Posted June 27, 2016 Thanks all. Had a few failed attempts since those two but at least it's easy to coat'em in white and start all over. 1 Quote
Baitmaker Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 VERY nice paint jobs! They turned out beautiful. 1 Quote
feathersandfur2214 Posted June 28, 2016 Posted June 28, 2016 Those look awesome ! I have just started tying my own jigs, spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. The crankbait is going to be my next venture. 1 Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted June 28, 2016 Super User Posted June 28, 2016 I'd fish the heck out of those! Quote
Ringonu Posted June 28, 2016 Author Posted June 28, 2016 Had a run of a half dozen baits that were just plain ugly. Decided to quit trying to do too much too fast and tried a sexy shad pattern. Just realized I forgot the shad dot so I'll add that later. Can't get much easier than this. 4 Quote
Baitmaker Posted June 29, 2016 Posted June 29, 2016 You have a very nice touch with an airbrush. Great fades! No need to get too fancy when your basic paint jobs look that professional. Here is a video tutorial showing how to do fins and gill plates that may give you some good ideas moving forward. The guys name is Mikko. He is from Finland and is a world class bait builder/painter. His videos are worth checking out for anyone wanting to up their game. Keep posting your work please. You definately have what it takes. 2 Quote

They are what came with the larger crankbaits that I ordered odd ebay. I only have a few left so I'll have to track them down Quote
Ringonu Posted August 17, 2016 Author Posted August 17, 2016 Finally got around to my 4th paint job (that looked decent) . Grabbed a $1 Rebel bait from the Wal-Mart bin. It looks better in person. Quote
Ringonu Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 Still trying out a couple different techniques. Neither turned out as well as I hoped but I doubt the fish will care. 3 Quote
Jtrout Posted September 22, 2016 Posted September 22, 2016 Sweet! What kind of paints are you using i was thinking about painting some with car paint since i work at a body shop and i have a pretty nice airbrush kit ive barely used. Quote
Ringonu Posted September 22, 2016 Author Posted September 22, 2016 Using createx regular and wicked. No clue how car paints would work. I started out with rattle cans so I'm sure anything will work one way or another. Just be sure to finish them with devcon 2-ton 30 min epoxy or similar Quote
