IndianaFinesse Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 What is your favorite size and color of Buzzbaits, and your favorite brand? Also, do you guys use trailers and if you do, what is your favorite trailer? Quote
Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 25, 2016 Super User Posted June 25, 2016 Megastrike Cavitron, 3/8oz. black skirt, black blade, no trailer. I use the other colors too, but black/black seems to be the most versatile. 5 Quote
You_Only_Live_Once_Fishing Posted June 25, 2016 Posted June 25, 2016 Strike King Tournament Buzzbait, 3/4 oz Sexy Shad no trailer. I only have one and I bought it online, I thought it would cast really far being 3/4 oz, but i have to reel 100mph to keep it above water. go lighter no trailer but use a trailer hook. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 26, 2016 Global Moderator Posted June 26, 2016 No trailer and no trailer hook on my buzzbaits. I use black 90% of the time, white 10%. 4 Quote
"hamma" Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I use a 3/4 oz double bladed buzzbait, white skirt, and white manns split tail trailer, and a trailer hook. I cant remember the brand, i think it's blue fox 1 Quote
Dave A Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I make my own 1/2 oz, black no trailer counter rotating 2 blade buzzbaits. I caught a 21" LM last season on it and have a 19" so far this season. 1 Quote
Super User scaleface Posted June 26, 2016 Super User Posted June 26, 2016 I use trailer hooks but no plastic trailer .My favorite bait is the Original lunker lure in yellow , chartreuse , white and black . Yellow and yellow/blue , yellow / black work well in my local waters . 1 Quote
Oklahoma Mike Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 Black Cavitron with gold blade. I will put a trailer on it (usually a swing impact or a craw) to give it a bigger profile if I'm trying to target larger bass. 1 Quote
primetime Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I know that people rave about the Cavitron and the Lunker Lure is an oldie but still comes with the old pale flat rubber and seems cheap, but that is the only buzzbait I throw and I almost never throw them since it seems you need to tune them just right etc...I will say that Strikes on Buzzbaits usually are bigger fish than other topwaters, so I would watch a video on how to get one to squeek, I have a buddy who is always messing with his buzzbaits so they squeak, and he is on to something because when he get's it right he does well some days and it seems it is the sound.... I only throw them for fun, so I just mess around with speeds and it seems really fast sometimes works best, not sure why but that is when I tie one on.... 1 Quote
shootermcbob Posted June 26, 2016 Posted June 26, 2016 I throw a couple different buzzbaits. I like the cavitron 3/8 ounce black with black blade or white with silver or gold blade. I also throw a black on black or white on silver booyah clacker buzzbait. I put a black with chartreuse legs horny toad or a plain white horny toad on all of them. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted June 27, 2016 Super User Posted June 27, 2016 1/4 oz black Cavitron, red blade. I use a trailer unless the grass is too matted for it. I'd say about 25% of my catches only have the trailer hook in them. 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 27, 2016 Super User Posted June 27, 2016 I use white most of the time. No trailer hook, or trailer. 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted June 27, 2016 Posted June 27, 2016 Black with black blade most of the time.. I use some that a local guy here on Table Rock makes, or if I use store bought, I buy crock o gator. Sometimes pull the skirt off and put a horny toad on it..Casts great in the wind and planes easy. 2 Quote
IndianaFinesse Posted June 30, 2016 Author Posted June 30, 2016 When you do use trailer hooks, what size do you use? Quote
Big Swimbait Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 If I want to use a trailer, I throw the D&M Buzz Saw. It has a free swinging EWG hook that you can rig your trailer of choice. It also makes it weedless. 1 Quote
