Does anyone make flukes that can withstand more than three strikes? I can go through a whole bag in one morning. I swear they make em to tear so you'll have to by more. At the rate I'm going I'll need to buy them by the pound.

what kind of hook are you using? They don't get torn up nearly as quickly for me on an owner twist lock hook compared to a regular offest or ewg worm hook.

if i am catching fish then i am not s concerned with them being chewed up.  Unless i am catching pickerel, i have found flukes to last quite a few fish.  I primarily use zoom but also use stankxbait and yum houdini shads.  they are all about the same as far as durability goes.

Look at the Z-Man plastics.  They are incredibly durable!

I mainly use surper fluke jrs and they last me a while for the most part unless I get find a school of aggressive bass. The first part to tare is where the hook exits by the nose with a 1/0 Ewg.  I'll save those baits and add a drop of mend it. Good as new.

I've tried other brands but zooms does it for me.....if/when I can find bags without defects.

Skip gap worm hooks.

Yes, they are tearing at the nose. I'll look into the "mend it" and the Z-mans.

It just seems to be such a waste to throw one away because of a small tear in the nose. Plus at almost .50 a piece you should get a little more use out of them.

If i find myself getting down to the last few, i have rigged them upside down and sideways to get a little more life out of them.  you can also bite off the chewed up part at the nose and continue fishing them.

I think I'll start doing that every time.

When I fish expensive conventional soft plastic baits like Keitech Swim Impact swimbaits, I put the damaged ones in a baggie and patch them up with Mend-It when I get home.  It works very well and will get you a lot of extra mileage out of your baits.

That said, using Z-Man Elaztech baits will surprise you... they are super durable!  They cost more up front, but seem to last forever.

You're catching them; who cares?! I'd much rather have to worry about putting on a new bait than something that's durable but doesn't catch anything. GYCB aren't the most durable but their not the worst. They flat out catch'em and I'm willing to shell out hard earned dollars on a limited my limited budget because of results. I've heard mend-it works well to repair soft plastics. I'll be throwing some TRD's soon, for the first time, On a Ned rig. Z-man will last a long time but they better get me fish or they are in the trash can.

I rip the nose off as they get torn. The walmarts by me usually have the zoom super flukes for around 3 bucks a bag, so If I go through a bag a trip I don't worry about it. I use them on a ewg most of the time.

Mend it will save the day. Save a ton of money too. Screw lock hooks help the nose tearing situation.

Strike King's 3x line of baits. They make the Zulu and Z Too. Great baits! You could probably catch 50-100 bass per bait, no exaggeration.

Wow 50-100! I've been lucky to get 2-3. I really like the way they look too. And not a bad price.

Academy has Zoom Flukes on sale for $3 a bag of 10, 40+ colors, I get a few fish per bait, and they work awesome...I favor the SK Caffiene shad but that is only good for one fish, but fine by me...Cast further,Sink awesome, tons of salt....I would keep buying whatever Fluke is causing such a problem....

I love chewed up bait problems....Better than coming home with 9 shiny baits in a pack and then putting the one you rigged earlier back in the bag....

Z Man are durable but sometimes they come crooked etc...I like seeing them first, plus I toss all my stuff in one pile since I don't care about bleeding for most part but you need to be careful, Strike King Zero has the ZULU and I feel they have higher QC even though it is same stuff....

Hard to beat a Zoom Fluke for price, and doing the job...Wave makes a Tiki Shadick that is really durable, comes in some cool colors but I never get around to using them since I have SK Flukes to use first and I go to them first and Zoom for special colors....

They can also ruin a huge bag of plastics when your buddy uses one and tosses it in the pile....I realized 3 days later, lost a good 300 soft baits so be careful to leave them in a seperate bag and tell all friends they can't give them back...1 bait can last a week, no joke...It will be floating after about 10 fish...Zulu seems to always come straight...Good call.

Mann's Hardnose are extremely durable. Not sure if they still make them but I have a bunch a friend gave me.

After the one side gets torn up, I rig them going the other way can get a few more fish and changes the action a bit.

using a twistlock hook or a skip gap helps a lot.  i've never used them, but the z man plastics last forever so i'd look at the fluke imitations they have.

Great info guys, thanks. I'll be stocking up over the holiday then back to catching the big boys on the new durable flukes.

I like bass assassin single rail flukes. Almost always use a twist lock hook and they last a long time and threw pike. If the nose rips, consider cutting off the half inch and using it as a chatter bait trailer or SK rage blade trailer.
